@yukiame
Let us have an obligatory discussion why it wasn't configured to ignore the lid close event! 😏

@tofuwabohu @rcs
No, that's an unlucky number, at the end of December the Undecember begins — a bounceback month, from this point the time starts counting backward until we are in the December of the previous year again so we can recapture our fond memories of it. And after that… Maybe we can have Undecember again! But that is to be decided by vote or maybe in a knife fight… Yeah, probably a knife fight 🤪

@ThatCrazyDude
And there is absolutely no reason to keep doing it for more than two years 🤣

@donno
Erm, sorry, that screenshot was awful 😅
It's what got generated without access to HTML canvas granted

🔡 Font testers needed! 🔡

Just released a rework of the Arcticons font on GitHub. It includes lots of new glyphs for multiple languages.

It's still an alpha version with many errors, but feedback is appreciated!

@donno
Wow, this looks like a great UI font!
Arcticons work reasonably well with Ubuntu Sans on my phone, but nothing is perfect and there is always room for improvement 😁
Default Windows font preview for some reason truncates letters like "J" and lowercase "q" — but no, there is no problem with them — in other applications they are displayed correctly.
I was just looking for an UI font to use with Sway — for window titles and such, I'll give this one a try, see if it works for me. Thanks! 👍

Single-user instances are scientific experiments running on real human brains in medically-induced coma.
That is why you can't really "wake up" from Fedi and also why you don't "touch grass" much — computations of these scenarios require quite a lot of resources, but aren't considered useful for the experiment and are often limited by your supervising personnel 🤪

@kirby
This is called chained assignment: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assignme
And it's handled differently in different languages. In Python it seemingly works exactly it would in C, but in fact it's somewhat of a special case.
It's often done one-per-line just to improve readability — so people using different languages won't be confused by behaviour they might not expect.

Good! So now I can publish my suggestions on how we can improve Google services 😈

@birwin
> Do people really send pictures of hitler?
Apparently! And I don't know why, but they are often referred to as Dick pics. Shouldn't they at least be Adolf pics? 🤔

Вернули 2007-ой, так сказать… 😄
Или там эмо были уже, а не готы? 🤔

@sj_zero
So true! I'm asking them this question all the time, and none could be able to come up with a working Python script using the FEniCS library 😆
@jew

@Helgi The best Western leaders could do is to state something like this: "We are not looking for peace with you, but we might agree to a ceasefire to regroup and be better prepared for your attacks",— that would annoy the fuck out of Kremlin officials and their supporters everywhere. Unfortunately, it looks like political willpower to do that is nowhere to be found.
Some might think that it's undiplomatic,but is listening to lies knowing that they are lies and pretending they aren't diplomatic?

@newt
True! But all of these are different grades of how bad it is, with not being late being the one everyone should strive for 😁
@eal

@eal
Some people think that it somehow makes it okay for them to be late if they have notified you — and this is even more annoying!
I mean, of course it's better than not even being notified, but it hardly justifies being late 🤷
@newt

@thor
But it does work! It's just hard for people to accept that they've been wrong, eventually, when dust settles down and it won't look like you have MADE them change their opinion, they might assess you arguments and come around. Appealing to emotions on the other hand never works with people who don't agree with you in the first place — it becomes a heated debate that ends in each party considering the other one a total douchebag 🤷

@rvps2001
Another round of nuclear blackmail? Wow, how original!

@kravietz
Yeah, it was always like that and to me it came as no surprise, but hope that it becomes a wake up call for some Russians in the perception of their own history. If WW2 is mostly perceived as something not pretty, for example 1812 war to most is about officers in pretty uniforms reading poetry to the crust of french bread, while in fact it most probably was way worse than now — crowds of uneducated men, often barefoot and lousy, thrown into battle by hundreds with no regard for losses
