@Moon
Sure, but still, in theory, how would servers communicate if we don't have domain names, would we have IDs like @ name@195.34.88.21:32742?
Would that even work? I'm not knowledgeable enough about ActivityPub, can't tell 🤔
@xianc78 @gabriel @a @realcaseyrollins

@gabriel
A lot of Gemini browsers don't support non-standard ports. And this is our geeky decentralized shit — the rest is probably even worse 🤷
@realcaseyrollins @Moon @a @xianc78

@gabriel Good point! Probably won't work so well with things we have now. I'm not sure if it would be possible to run a Fedi instance on non-web port with any software we have today — they guess how to get to the instance the user came from by the domain name. You can probaby put the port name in the .well-known hosted at standard web port, but I'm not sure how that would work.
@realcaseyrollins @Moon @a @xianc78

@xianc78 What about vhosts? One IP-address can host a plethora of things and the only way to tell them apart if the domain name they use 🤷
@Moon @gabriel @a @realcaseyrollins

@Bead I would never do that to my cats, but I know for sure they'd like it 😸

@skylar And s-expressions — by another cat finishing the soup after the first one when only parentheses were left 😹
@theorytoe

@theorytoe No, they are different, XHTML however is XML-comliant.
@bleedingphoenix

@futzle Probably Amy Wong from Planet Express — very annoying, block her 😄

@splitshockvirus
> something really disgusting
Don't install Windows please, stop it! We can talk this through 🤪

@Sabex Why would you want to value the life of someone who is trying to steal from you? At best you probably don't care about their life. Shooting on sight is definitely not the first thing one should resort to, but valuing their life above all rest is just unreasonable, it's not like you're hating them for being different from you or having other opinion, it's not like you just don't like them — this person is clearly in the wrong 🤷

@theorytoe @thegreatape I grew to like HP actually, but that print on the topcase is just hideous! What's that, petrified insects? Is it removable? 😰

So… It kinda worked!
Upgrade to 2.5.2 that is. Thanks to @dcc
No DB upgrade required — what I imagined it to be is probably just ecto.migrate

Took me a while though to realize that you can just do VACUUM(FULL); in psql without specifying any tables to optimize the whole DB 😄

@thor Why the hell not? He seems cool — so squishy 🤭

@errante

@badibulgator
I think it's a possibility! We have to take action now and fight for brighter future of our cats (and catpeople)!✊🐱

@oldrawgabbit Configuration should be straightforward if you don't use your own server for notifications — it's preconfigured to use a public one that's free. After you've installed ntfy, you have to log out of your accounts in Tusky and Element and log into them again, then you can check ntfy — they should create their own topics, like channels for your notifications.
That's if you want to get notifications at all, all these "social" thingies are often just a distraction anyway 😄

@oldrawgabbit Oh, you were talking about the tablet. Damn, when it's about Android I always assume it's about a phone for some reason 😅
For tablet turning off system WebView is probably a really bad idea — a lot of stuff won't work anymore, but with everything else you should be fine, but notifications might break. If you use Tusky and Element, you can use Unified Push instead, there's an app called "ntfy", I've installed it from F-Droid, but it should also be on Play Store.

@oldrawgabbit Just disable system WebView and be done with it 😁
No, just kidding — don't do that, it might be a good idea if you use it like a normal phone, rely only on a few basic apps and use Firefox Mobile as your browser, but a lot of other apps rely on it and will just stop working — like for real, not just stop receiving notification as with Play services, they will just crash.
Unfortunatelly, even pricacy-centic apps like ProtonMail rely on it.
