@jeff There was time when youtube.com in my home LAN was redirected to something else because when you invite your friends over for a few beers at certain point someone would suggest watching YT — and I used to fscking hate it 🤣
And at one point I've had an open wireless access point (isolated from LAN) configured the same way, like: "Use it if you want, just not for THIS"
@dushman @mjdxp

@gemlog It's not always perfect, especially on "infinite scrolling" websites, but in most cases I use it for it gets the job done. It also snaps to the edges of the element you are about to capture the same way AdBlock picker does — it highlights the element when you hover over it, comes in handy sometimes. In case you want to try it out, it's Ctrl+Shift+S, but maybe you have to enable something in about:config to enable advanced features — I don't remember, if that's the case, I did it long ago

@gemlog I think it's mostly targeted at web developers as the only distinct feature is that it knows what a web page is — it can capture more than you see on your screen, suitable for making screenshots of long threads like this one here: social.librem.one/@m0xee/11066
The only other way to do it is to print the page to PDF, convert to JPEG and crop it. Maybe there are extensions which do it better — I don't know, but why when there is a built-in one 🤷

@jeff Exactly! No hardcoded blocked instances in client software, instance software — anywhere. Let users and admins decide who bad actors are themselves.
I know we have a special case here, but it would set a very bad precedent. Look at fediblock, it's not about teenagers using n-word for "trolling" anymore, it literally: "I dunno what's wrong with this instance, but it federates with some instances I might have not liked in the past and I don't remember reason for that either, blocked"
@mjdxp

@3dnews Просто отпала необходимость — все перешли на @catgpt

@metallcorn
Я и сам был стримершей Кариной первое время, особенно по части мЭмных вещей. Но потом втянулся 😁
@cauf

@cauf

Looks like font.size.systemFontScale is gone in Firefox 105 and everything is smol again. There might have been a lot of incentives for removing it — breaking screenshooting feature for one, if the var vas set to anything but 100, screenshot region wasn't scaled accordingly and you got cropped screenshots or empty space around what you wanted.
Now there is ui.textScaleFactor that does the same and works, but screenshots are still skewered. What was the point then? 🤔

@gabriel But as you grow older, you realize that people just can't get along and you have to get rid of all the bad ones to fix things 😂

@gabriel It's when you go to Heaven and Hell at the same time and everyone has a party. Free drinks!

@psychictides Sorry, not serial killers, main characters are hitmen — hired killers, anyway, not nice guys. But they are put in situations when nothing goes as expected, and instead of being violent they are doing things that just look stupid.
Well, I'm getting poor with words, looks like I'm tired — have to take a break from Fedi for today, maybe watch a movie 😅
Have a nice day or whatever you're having!

@psychictides Take Alex van Warmerdam's movies — if you just read the synopsis, you might find his stuff disturbing — and it is: some characters are always getting killed in a most ridiculous way, but what's going on is usually so absurd that you just sit and laugh like a madman: what the hell is going on here? 🤣 I've watched only 3-4 movies, but I might be a fan, really like his style.
Take Schneider vs. Bax for example, it's about serial killers — a scary premise, but it's actually funny.

@psychictides Von Trier is hit or miss for me — some of his movies I enjoy immensely, some I don't get. I've watched The Boss of It All without realizing it's Lars' movie, then one of my friends hints at that, just between the lines, and I'm like: "Are you for real?!"— I'd probably perceive it completely differently had I knew from the very beginning.
No, not to say anything, he's a great director of course and I've definitely seen weirder shit.

@psychictides I am yet to watch it. It was so hyped up when it was in the theaters that I refrained from watching it. I tend to expect the worst when this happens, I might not like the movie just because of that. Going in without prior expectations is always the best, so when I know about the movie beyond synopsis I usually postpone seeing it. Of course sometimes I have regrets that I didn't watch it in the cinema, no one's perfect.
Maybe now's the right time, thanks for reminding me of it.

@psychictides Oh, yes, I grew up in the 90-ies and I've always thought that it was me being teenager — that's why such scenes made me feel uncomfortable, but no — I re-watch these movies now and I take a lot of things easier, but not this.
Of course there are exceptions, American Beauty even has nudity scenes, but those feel "natural" somehow, maybe because the characters themselves are uncomfortable in these scenes 😄

@psychictides Mind you, I don't think that having sex is something to be ashamed of, but just watching it, when you're not part of it feels weird 😅

@psychictides Exactly! I'm used to seeing people hugging and kissing. At a party with friends and they might get cuddly, but if they want more, they usually get a room, and I'm not used to walking around and peeking into others' bedrooms. Even when it's a part of the plot the immersion subsides for me in a way — maybe I should walk outside and let them have the room? Unless it's a VERY important plot point, a hint at this is enough, but especially in 90-ies movies these scenes are often too long

@psychictides
People making love.
Like… why are they carrying on while I'm looking, are they into this sort of thing? Am I? 🤔
