@re9177 You're right, could as well be an homage. Either way, nothing's wrong with that, it's the best spot for a pointing devices anyway 😄

@re9177 Yes, but on CEC-E it's in its own block on a flat, slightly submerged surface, exactly where you expect touchpad to be on modern kb/touchpad combos. It's amazing how it doesn't look like something from the past at all, more like a modern re-imagination of it.

@threat I have sold all my good bases, except for the most cheap one and most MIDI-controllers. Your thread made me plug this cheap bass in only to realize that one of the mic/instr inputs on the soundcard no longer works as expected — something's wrong with the gain knob, I had to press it upward for the input to work. Now I'm a sad panda 😔

@thor
Space Cadet was nice, but this was WAY more addictive! 🤤

@shadsy
Those vintage Victrolas definitely need a comeback 😆

@misty

@misty Both my Rotel and NAD CD players stopped recognizing CDs so that is probably how I'm going to listen to jazz too pretty soon 😄

@electronwarier Not really. He didn't choose that, not caring about someone's life doesn't necessarily mean that you want him/her to die, you just don't care. Same here, he doesn't want all Ukrainians to die — he just doesn't care if and how many of them die, same for Russians, Americans or anyone really, he only cares about him staying in power 🤷

@DotardTed

@q66 Wow! This WS looks like an amazing addition to your extensive hardware collection! I know you have a really cool one 🤩

@Cooper@mastodon.bida.im

@neural_meduza

As for the music, you can download the album in it's entirety for free here: archive.org/details/acp056_red
This is very close to the music I used to make myself, I usually prefer darker sound, this one is mostly lighthearted, but good nonetheless.
The rest of Acroplane's roster is interesting too! When I was looking for the link, I was quite surprised to discover them still being active and having newer releases on Band Camp.

Damn, I have missed the perfect opportunity to post this! Well, better late than never. It was actually this track that sparked recent resurgence of my interest in Ted's life. I've even re-read half of Industrial Society and Its Future while living in the country during COVID summer, mostly alone and with very few utilities: cold water unsuitable for drinking and even electricity wasn't always available — a very fitting atmosphere. I've been in the mood to start writing my own manifesto 😅

@pixelherodev@fosstodon.org Yeah, I have already checked it out. Unfortunately the CSS isn't up to standards even for Nitter, which is my primary use case for a GUI browser — the rest of software is TUI. Well, Surf works for me, maybe NetSurf will find its uses too, here is the computer in question: social.librem.one/@m0xee/11044
Despite me hating CMake, I have to admit that replacing custom build system with it is nothing to sneer at — xbps-src made it easy for me, but it must be a maintainer's nightmare.

@vyivel

@protonmail It's VERY important to explain this to people. Most don't seem to realize how old social media accounts get hijacked — the one who does that just figures out the email address the account originally was registered to, registers it again if it was deleted and does a password recovery procedure — that's it, they are in!

@protonvpn My configuration is like this: my browser is configured to use web proxy, squid running on a VPN box which is in turn connected to Proton, and I'm not always sure what proxy Firefox is using, the one it's set to use in settings or the one supplied by extension. For web pages extension works GeoIP test page shows a different address, but is it also used for other connections types, WebSockets and such? I know it's pretty much a corner case, but is such configuration tested at all?

@protonvpn None of them. Chromium-based browsers are never an option for me.
But I know it's important to make transition to privacy-centric services smooth for non tech-savvy people so I'm cool with you making one.
Thanks for the Firefox one! I'm always connected through VPN, but it's nice I can make a quick switch to a different exit node from the browser without reconfiguring VPN— useful for circumventing georestrictions.
There is a concern I have about extension though.

@thor These ground control guys sound suspicious, should I really respond to that? 😁
