@protonmail It's VERY important to explain this to people. Most don't seem to realize how old social media accounts get hijacked — the one who does that just figures out the email address the account originally was registered to, registers it again if it was deleted and does a password recovery procedure — that's it, they are in!

@protonvpn My configuration is like this: my browser is configured to use web proxy, squid running on a VPN box which is in turn connected to Proton, and I'm not always sure what proxy Firefox is using, the one it's set to use in settings or the one supplied by extension. For web pages extension works GeoIP test page shows a different address, but is it also used for other connections types, WebSockets and such? I know it's pretty much a corner case, but is such configuration tested at all?

@protonvpn None of them. Chromium-based browsers are never an option for me.
But I know it's important to make transition to privacy-centric services smooth for non tech-savvy people so I'm cool with you making one.
Thanks for the Firefox one! I'm always connected through VPN, but it's nice I can make a quick switch to a different exit node from the browser without reconfiguring VPN— useful for circumventing georestrictions.

Well anyway, it's in the past now as US seems to have registered an explosion — that is proof I was waiting for. Zelensky's words alone weren't enough this time, sorry. Because I know quite well that as much as Russian military command is evil, it's also stupid.

I don't think that is shifts the blame though. It's still a dam, not a child's toy — if you occupy it, be responsible!
When the first news arrived I have dismissed "the accident" version (UA attack was never even a version to me), but then I grew less skeptical to it because in addition to malice Russian management is known for sheer incompetence. They might have planned to destroy the dam — there is solid proof of that, but not now, not at this particular day.

@chowderman That is how propaganda works when some serious shit hits the fan: they don't give you a single false version, that is consistent and believable, they give you 15 different ones to choose from, maybe your bias will help you pick one that works best for you. And of course the sweet taste of "we will never know all the truth" — like it's impossible, truth is relative, pick whatever you want to believe. Journalists who try to pick the middle ground always fall into this trap.

@kravietz Exactly! They use the same technique over again and again, same trick as with MH17. There was a popular image on that, I don't have it at hand, it was in a form of an Excel table with three columns: UA version, EU version and RU version. UA version was "MH17 was brought down by separatists with Russian BUK", EU version is vague in the beginning, but gains details with every iteration, RU — 15 totally different random versions, sometimes the next one contradicts the previous one.
