@threat Welcome aboard! Glad you like it. Getting Void to run on this machine was fun and it mostly works now. A pity I didn't share my progress more, in fact, last Friday I really wanted to, but that single malt scotch got to me first🥴
Maybe I should do a longer post on it on Gemini (I do have that capsule for a reason, right?) and share a patch set. These netbooks used to have a viable community and it's nice that having only ½G RAM it's capable of running relatively up-to-date s/w

@vyivel
Thanks! I'm looking for something really minimal for an ARM machine with only 512 Mbs RAM. w3m is too barebones even with inline sixel images, surf kinda works, but it's still kinda slow-ish, NetSurf might hit the sweet spot. I'll check out this fork too then.

@pixelherodev@fosstodon.org

@pixelherodev@fosstodon.org TBH I even thought that was a typo first. I can't find it even if I explicitly enter "neosurf browser" into DDG 🤷
Online casino, some coupon, crypto shit… Does this thing even exist?

@vyivel
But you expect people to use it, right? 😅

@vyivel Why not just reskin Element?
People love IRC for its simplicity, but it lacks a lot of features people expect from a modern online collaboration tool: it's not E2EE, doesn't have proper identity management, doesn't host images and other uploads. If you start slapping these things on top of it, what you get won't necessarily be better than what we have in Matrix so you may as well work on improving it instead of building it from the ground up.

@suchipi
>GitHub for lesbians
So just… regular GitHub? 🤭

@thatguyoverthere And I'm not against even that — go ahead, try it, if that works we'll all admit it and say thank you, but don't try to impose that on those who don't find that theory believeable. That's not how representation works. There are a bunch of straight white dudes there, but they don't represent me in any way and I hate most of them, I find it hard to believe that picking more of the same kind of people, but with different exterior is going to fix things 🤷

@thatguyoverthere And I'm not against that — that's perfectly understandable they can use anything in their arse nal to achieve their goal if that doesn't break any law, but people trying to convince everyone else that some things can be fixed by "better representation" are kinda missing the point IMO. These people have more in common with other professional politicians than with average person of coulour or man or woman or transgender person…

@fluffykittenspambot If you don't look like that together, you don't have a future as a couple 😹

@thatguyoverthere That's exactly what's wrong with that kind of thinking that senator/MP/whatever is appropriate in your country who is technically a minority somehow represents this minority. It's their rich and powerful social group they most often care about, not the people whom they share ethnicity/skin colour/sex/gender with.

@MonarchMommy@mastodon.social Never take your eyes off the ball. So they say 🤣
@fcktheworld587

@thatguyoverthere Getting a Talos 2 to check emails and do some web browsing might seem inefficient, but maybe it's not such a bad idea after all. I mean in comparison 😂

@oandr88@mastodon.ml А можно совместить несколько вредных вещей! Ну, как на том фестивале, что проходит на станции «Кузнецкая»: mastodon.ml/@neural_meduza/110

@neural_meduza

@juliancalaby Huh, it does look familiar to me! Probably a custom skin for a standard model, but, TBH, I don't remember much about Q3 😅
@marcan@treehouse.systems

@gordoooo_z Exactly! Requests on the other hand is pretty straightforward. Contexts (or whatever these are called, objects which retain proxy settings, cookies obtained by making requests with this object, etc.) make perfect sense!

@gordoooo_z Ha-ha-ha! TBH, I might be a bit behind what's current in Python world 🤪
But yeah, at least it used to be, even urllib3 wasn't in the standard library last time I used Python for anything serious.

@gordoooo_z
> Python's requests library is so ridiculously painless
Right? It's so good it should be in the standard library! One of the few third party modules that doesn't add layers of abstractions just for the sake of adding layers of abstractions. Makes everything so effortless that it puts the means to do the same in Python's standard library to shame.

@xinicit
Same here 😩
Good thing I have a "crystal" (transparent plastic) one that came with the phone to use in the meantime.

@safiuddinkhan This version of protocol has been proven to be insecure though, so everyone is strongly advised not to use it. Even in modern Windows it's disabled by default and you have to explicitly enable it with some weird ass netsh command.
