@thatguyoverthere Same here. I do agree that if we want to have sustainable economy we have to strongly tone down on consumption, economy can't be based on mass-producing electronics that goes into garbage bin in 2-3 years (on computers running cryptographic hash function 24/7 either).
But some of the problems raised are questionable to say the least, e.g. I don't get the beef problem. I'm not against people not eating meat when it's their choice.

@thatguyoverthere It also seldomly gets below -30°C in winter, I remember when I was a schoolkid it even got below -40°C — this was a huge problem as it damaged hot water pipes. Now it rarely gets below -30°C during winter, for a week maybe, or less. Global warming or not, things are definitely changing.

There are very few mosquitoes outside Moscow nowadays. They used to be a problem even in the city, there were no easily installable anti-mosquito nets, but lighter curtains were a must and vaporizers were nice to have. Outside of the city they still do come when you're cooking something in the kitchen late in the evening, but very few of them, still attracted by moist, heat and light, but you barely notice them at other times.

I can't imagine what the etymology is, I was quite surprised when I learned it's called that in the US. We have a similar one on Russia: guinea pigs are called "морские свинки" which can be translated as sea pigs. Okay, the pig part is familiar, but I bet they can't swim! Capybaras can and they do look like giant guinea pigs, it might have made sense, but we don't have any capybaras here 😂

It was almost finished, but project got abandoned and can't be built with up-to-date version of cargo, only a few managed to fix that and build it.
In the meantime everyone's using a similar program written in Kotlin which requires NodeJS to be built, it also relies on Google infrastructure and has a few shortcomings, for example it only picks genders Google wants.
Here, something closer to the tech reality we're living in 😂

@gordoooo_z Never too late to make a backup of your follows and followers, most Fedi software allows you do do it in account preferences unless configured not to.
I have my own single user instance, but it's hosted on an old MacMini and I don't put too much trust in that thing — if it breaks, I doubt I'll be able to find parts for it even DDR1 desktop RAM and 2,5" IDE HDDs are a rarity these days, everything else — even more so.
That is why this one remains my main account.
