@JimDMac Youtube, although I have only tried it with modern stuff, digitally recorded and with proper quality, does that with automatically generated subtitles with a degree of success — there is room for improvement of course, sometimes it sucks ass outright, but I think no one just cares enough to improve it 🤷

А, понял. Раз отрабатывают сценарии массовых волнений, значит опасения, что таковые могут случиться есть. Но если почитать Twitter — можно подумать, что опасаться нечего и никакие волнения невозможны ни при каких обстоятельствах.

@PawelK I don't think you can afford it, this online retailer is quite large. It's owned by one of the richest women in Russia. Something like Russian Amazon — with same poor practices towards employees. There was a huge scandal a few years ago that web developers were getting underpaid and the most recent news were that employees working at handout points weren't paid at all.

There was a post about OpenRazer just yesterday in the timeline. In Windows RGB keyboard backlight is mostly useless, you can use it to display Matrix letter rain effect or some rainbow madness, but in Linux when I had more control over it I had used it for example to indicate whether the screen is locked, it was red when it is and became green when you unlocked it. Very sci-fi-ish!
I think it's good that I don't those remote controlled light bulbs 😏

@gemlog Wait actually I did implement it! The COVID rates class is in the data retrieval library! This info just doesn't get displayed. I think I wanted to implement update scheduling first, not to bug the services I use as sources of data, e.g. it only makes sense to update COVID info daily and exchange rates only during office hours when there is an actually session, but not on weekends. I also wanted it to plot graphs, but of course I got lazy and didn't do it 😋

@gemlog Of course, monome is a luxury item! Well, no, not that rich, but there were times when this was relevant, I was always pessimistic about Russian economy and had savings in US$, when I needed some vodka and food coupons (🇷🇺Roubles) I had to go to the exchange and knowing the rate was useful.
It's another hobby project, in 2020 I wanted to extend it so new infections, hospitalizations and deaths get shown, I didn't implement it, but this is where the skull symbol comes from 😅
