@gemlog Yes, same with music — it's a professional deformation and ruins the fun for some, they no longer listen to it, but surgically dissect it: here is the time signature change, here is that chord progression, here is this synth and it's programmed this way… For me it usually doesn't. Well, maybe I started noticing poor use of plot devices in the movies more after reading John Truby's Anatomy of Story, but that's a rare exception 😄

@gemlog Nice move actually! No Citizen Kane, but still very good. Most of the movie it is night time or early morning, so the coloring fits perfectly. There is another movie by J.C. Chandor,A Most Violent Year or something like that, it's also colored teal & orange, there is a bit more prominent, but still not off-putting. I think this director puts it to good use.

@gemlog TBH when I observed the abovementioned green and purple artifact, I didn't realize it was such. Till the very end of the movie I thought: yeah, it looks a bit weird, but these colors are so stylish 🤣

@gemlog Yeah, it actually makes movies very visually appealing when done right, but it can also ruin it. For example, I hate this teal & orange effect because it's most often overdone, but look at Margin Call — it fits the setting perfectly, and just adds to the atmosphere. I didn't even notice it was there, until my friend who is into video editing noted that 😅

@Binkle Oh, yes, looks cool though. I'll try looking it up, maybe with a _very_ rough approximation it can be kept short enough to be used as a pickup line for a certain type of gals 🤣

Watching The Matrix for the first time in my life. I see this very specific tint of green and think that something is wrong with the metadata, like wrong colorspace… You know it sometimes happens and everything gets purple and pale green.
It took me trying four different devices to play this video and realize… It was supposed to be like this! Damn! 🤣

That's a joke of course, I don't have such a cable, I doubt it exists — they used to be directional, I think that is what OP was about. And the only dot matrix printer I have only has parallel port, but this is what I had in mind when I made that up.

@mo Why would one use his phone to charge anything at all? The only use case I can come up with is some sort of e-cigarette/vaporizer, but you'd better not use anything but the wall charger with those things unless you want to get the board fried 🤷
