I was planning on staying the night. Sometimes I have to respond to messages and I hate using the phone for that.
The lappy I use now is pretty smol, it's not a big hassle to just throw it in a backpack when I go somewhere.
It did come in handy when one of the guests wanted to find one particular old mix to listen to — everyone hates using phones for this stuff I guess 🤷

@alex@mastodon.scot I took my laptop to my friend's birthday party last weekend and I can't say everyone was particularly impressed by the fact that the only GUI "app" I was using was Firefox, more like weirded out. But then I used bluetoothctl to connect to the Bluetooth speaker — well, like I'm used to and they were like: "WTF?!" 😲

@vicorva My oven is a gas one. I only have it powered when I fire it up. Then I might use the power outlet for something else and the built-in timer will shut off anyway so I use my phone or computer — anything I have on hand.

If you're making mixes to show off your skills and make a portfolio so you might get invited to play somewhere, high quality won't hurt anyway.
And you'll keep these tracks in your library so when high quality becomes a must, you already have them. It's the right thing to do 👍

I think they aren't expensive enough for anyone to bother with piracy. WhatPeoplePlay had tracks in AIFF (basically same as WAV) for less than a dollar per track. Beatport was going to make AIFF an option, but I'm not sure if this was done — I haven't used it for over a decade 😄
If you make money by DJing in a club (otherwise high quality isn't a requitement) it just doesn't make sense to bother with torrents.

You might need license for that, drug stores/hospitals should be willing to buy your product and they might be tied by contract obligations. To produce some things you've got to have some advanced tech, but I doubt it's the case with insulin. Although insulin was invented a century ago, the current technology used isn't THAT old, probably from the 60-ies — it's still not rocket science.

@gabriel A friend of mine had a large aquarium, probably bigger than this one in his kitchen. I was staying at his place and this thing cracked all of a sudden while we were sleeping in the next room. Believe me, it's the last thing you want to deal with the middle of the night. Initial shock of waking up from the noise with all this water on the floor is the worst, but having to collect the fishes and looking for where to put them didn't help it either 😂
