Don't fret, guys, Russia's economy is failing. It might not be obvious, especially from the outside, but it is. It wasn't in a good shape to begin with, COVID was a deadly blow, now, with "mobilization", pushing young men, the most economically active demographics out of the country, or sending them towards imminent death, definitely won't end well.

Same here actually, I use these keys like… almost never. Arrows and F-keys too, I prefer vim style of moving around and even Ctrl+J instead of Enter, but when I'm at the desk and not using laptop's built-in keyboard, not having these keys just doesn't feel right. Space is not a problem in this case and I always end up using full-sized keybs 🤷
A matter of habit, I suppose.

@xaviers Try contacting them first. Usually they block these to protect their customers, as the abovementioned ports are used to send spam and spread cryptominers. If you state that you need those for legitimate reasons and pay them extra for static external IP they might make an exception.

@gemlog Yeah, that never felt right, even MS-DOS had that Ctrl+C shortcut for break, but in Windows it's copy all of a sudden. I think MS copied that from Macs, but it's Cmd+C there and it's pretty consistent. Ctrl+Shift+C does feel right, it's a shortcut to copy selection in the terminal emulator to X or Wayland clipboard, it works in st, Alacritty and I think in others too, it's useful to copy and paste text between terminals, but in Firefox it is something different 😩

@gemlog I was pretty sure it stems from Mosaic era, and they weren't even called bookmarks at the time. I was right about that, bookmarks were called hotlist, but it looks like the shortcut was "a" to Add 🤷

For GUI apps it's usually Ctrl+W or Cmd+W on Macs.
This always happens to me when I spend long enough time doing something in the terminal, then switch to Firefox and… Ctrl+Shift+C to copy text — WTF is this?! Inspector! Ctrl+J, Ctrl+H and Ctrl+W no longer work, a-a-argh! 🤬

@thor It ain't easy to do with a phone even if you know what exposure is.
I think Google Camera has this nice "night mode" just for that, but you have to hold it still for like a couple of minutes if not more.

@gemlog I'd probably advise using the star either in the location bar or in the right click context menu, dragging to the bookmark bar is too hard to explain anyway 🤷
That's if you'd really like to use the mouse, Ctrl+D might be hard to remember for beginners, but it works in most browsers I think.

@yogthos Looks a lot like the old HP laptop I use now and it's reasonably specced, except for storage. 256 Gb? And eMMC in 2022? This is inferior even compared to my €200 Chinese phone! Why?
Other than that, a nice laptop!
