@suika The red one looks like he already drank some 😋

@sai This looks like a scene from Dance in the Vampire Bund when Mina finds a cave full of her clones 😄

@Sherwoodinc @safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org But that's cheating!
Isn't it imperative to suffer when using Windows? 😂

@hj So true! Except coffee is not my cup of… Oh, well.
I have several bottles of sparkling water in the fridge, but I just can't stop drinking hot tea for some reason.

@Moon @cereal Forget Me Not extension for Firefox is also quite good. It clears cookies when you close the tab/leave that domain.
They will still ask you whether you want cookies or not every freaking time! So the most complete solution would be to avoid such web sites 😆

@diresock @sai Transparency is really nice here and it looks… appropriate.
I don't think real compositing was possible at that time though as most video adapters lacked alpha blending capabilities.

@sai I have something to comfort you. It's Windows 3.11 that looks like Windows 9x. Here: fosstodon.org/@safiuddinkhan/1

@sai Sorry, I didn't want to hurt your feelings 😅

@sai This is just sick in every possible way!
It still looks better than original Windows 98 though 😅

@birnim@fosstodon.org @safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org Think of it as of a way to spur up discussion.
And the whole "If I ignore it it will go away" approach doesn't always work that well 😅

@safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org The idea that GNU/Linux could be more successful if some thing get standardized is not new. But since it was new popular distros gave us nice "standardized" things like systemd for example! Or pulseaudio!
So bringing this idea up now looks out of place and just stupid!

@safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org At least you can have the feeling it's the end of the week and not feel guilty because it is really Thursday, not Monday 😂

@Hawk1291 @safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org Actually it did! A lot of game developers were reluctant to develop games for Windows because most gamers were still using DOS. Microsoft had to jump through hoops to change that. Gabe Newell was at the helm of porting Doom to Windows. So you can also thank MS for Valve.

@cy@mstdn.io @safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org I know, pulseaudio can actually be useful if you want advanced audio routing or have bluetooth, but I don't and I don't want pulseaudio. I really hate it! 😡

@cy@mstdn.io @safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org And pulseaudio!
A lot of us hate systemd and that is not unreasonable, but it least it's easy not to use it, there are a lot of distros that don't have it.
It's not that easy with pulseaudio because Mozilla thinks you should have it to use Firefox. Well, output kinda works with alsa only, but input is completely broken. I have to use apulse that emulates pulse API. It introduces lag, but it's still better than using the real thing.

@safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org @Suiseiseki "Barbarians led by Bill Gates" is a great book about early days of MS. Days teeming with predatory and immoral stuff. The way they've marketed Windows is particularly disgusting!

@safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org They have something called Community Edition which is free. As in free beer, not as in freedom. But I think you can't distribute software built with it, you can just use it to play around.
They also have VScode. But it's Electron-based 🤢
