Ryukksakku! So backpack in Japanese is rucksack? 😲
Every time I encounter a word in foreign language that is similar to the one in Russian, I feel weird — even if for both languages it's a loanword 😄
@charlie_root
In English — yes, there are grades of backpacks and rucksack is a more rugged one, but in Russian and Japanese it's rucksack all the time, no finer grades.
In Russian there are other words you could use — but those aren't common, mostly come from different fields' professional slang, not sure about Japanese.
@m0xee @charlie_root Rucksack is a german word that got adopted half way around the globe.
We dont differentiate between the different types by adding extra words, but they are all Rucksack.
E.g. there's the old "Gestellrucksack" featuring a metal frame that nobody uses anymore.
It's a rucksack just a tougher backpack for outdoors activities and hiking?
