Sit with this for a second: If the White House had its way, all the immigrants in this country would be dead -- at least on paper. WaPo reports that the Trump administration had plans to classify 2.7 million living people — including some U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents — as dead as part of its immigration enforcement efforts. The plan reportedly fell apart after pushback from Social Security Administration employees who were tasked with implementing it.

Do they still make these things? I think my mother's bathroom is the only place I've ever seen one...and this one has been in use for over 40 years.

The US gov't will end up bailing out the AI companies by taking an ownership stake in them and Bernie Sanders will be instrumental in selling this to the lib/left side of the spectrum.

I absolutely will cast shade on addicts for insisting I should be addicted too, and for transforming all of society around the idea that my being addicted is a good thing.

@hynek The only reason I can't quite fully cosign this is that LLMs are teaching us something interesting about the entire concept of "code quality". LLM-extruded slop frequently ticks every mechanistic checkbox we can think of in terms of "quality"; it's properly formatted, has high code coverage, appropriately commented, meets various "readability" bars, usually has a low to moderate cyclomatic complexity. It's "good code" in the way that we have been trained to perceive. It just doesn't work
