A little tip to all those folks using Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud: you're paying at least 20x more than you need to be paying. If you claim you're using 'special services only provided by __insert name of ripoff cloud provider here__' then you've got your organisation locked into a single provider with the inability to move to a better one. Consider your options very carefully & build vendor-agnostic system. Dependence on #bigtech suppliers is a recipe for disaster.

People are shocked to discover they need to fact-check ChatGPT and I'm having the uncomfortable realization that they never fact-checked their uncle's Facebook posts, their friend's medical advice, or literally anything Google's top result told them, and suddenly the last decade makes sense...

This is the last time I plan to point to anything from CBS "News".

The company that owns it has capitulated to Trump extortion. This is ALL about money. Integrity is completely beside the point.

Almost without exception, America's "mainstream media" is now quisling media.

Currently working on implementing Matrix's new 'Matrix Authentication Service' for our NZ-based instance... non-trivial. But it's such an impressive system (it's doing far more than competitors like Salesforce Slack and Microsoft Teams).

Why Do Warriors Wear Masks?
🎙️ Narrated by Clifton Ariwakehte Nicholas

In this powerful reflection, an Indigenous warrior explains why masks have become a necessary part of resistance. Drawing on the lessons of the 1973 Wounded Knee uprising and the violence that followed, the speaker details how state surveillance and repression made anonymity a matter of survival. After Wounded Knee, those who stood up were systematically targeted—by the FBI and hired goons. The mask is not a gimmick or a symbol—it’s armor.

This clip delves into the security culture developed by Indigenous movements to protect communities, maintain operational safety, and safeguard the individuals behind the struggle. It underscores the strategic use of pseudonyms and collective identities as tools to ensure that resistance can continue without repression destroying it from within.

Ultimately, “Why Do Warriors Wear Masks?” is not just about hiding faces—it's about preserving the movement and honoring those who came before.

From Silvia Federici's essay "Palestine is the World," originally published in 2002.

In the town I live in there's some fairly progressive small businesses. One of the owners for the first time ever has decided to remain open on the 4th of July. Another owner expressed outrage at this decision, and was going to provide feedback to the first owner. It should be interesting to see. As far as I know neither owner gives their employees (hourly) holiday pay. I wish both would, but I don't have access to their books. First owner lives richest lifestyle.

Fuck Canada Day. Support Anti-Colonial Media.

Yeah, we know—it’s Canada Day. A day when this colonial state pats itself on the back with fireworks and maple-washed history books. But for many of us, it’s a day of mourning, resistance, and truth-telling.

At Amplifier Films, we’re not here to celebrate genocide wrapped in red and white. We’re a crew made up of people from colonized lands—Kanien’kehá:ka Territory, Borikén, and beyond—and we’ve dedicated our work to tearing down colonial lies and amplifying the real stories of land defense, past and present.

From the forests of so-called Canada to the streets of occupied Palestine, we bring you radical media from the front lines. That means real stories. Real resistance. Real decolonial politics. No filters. No apologies.

We’ve got two major projects right now that need your support:

🔥 Red Road to the West Bank – Following Indigenous land defenders from Turtle Island connecting with Palestinian resistance on the ground. amplifierfilms.ca/redroad

🔥 Front Line Reports – Ongoing, no-bullshit coverage of land back struggles, settler violence, and Indigenous resistance here and abroad. amplifierfilms.ca/shorts

Throw down if you can. A donation of $70 or more gets you a keffiyeh as a thank-you—a symbol of resistance and solidarity.

📣 This Canada Day, skip the fireworks. Fund the fire. Support anti-colonial media.

How many friends and family can I count on? There's a chance to stay somewhat global, if communications can be maintained. Farm land is plentiful, so food can be maintained even with the initial climate shocks. Defense will be needed, but hopefully diplomacy can be a higher power. I'm tempted to just kill any millionaires/billionaires outright. Can they adapt to cooperative living or are they irredeemable? Will they bring in the military? If so, where will people land?

I'd always hoped that things could be reversed, righted, fixed, or whatever, but now I know that was just a dream; a shared dream, but only a dream. Time to go tribal.
