Wanna check out our first episode of The Beautiful Idea?
We roundup news of front-line autonomous struggles, speak on the corporate media rushing to clutch their pearls following the shooting of a CEO in #NYC, interview someone from the support crew of Stop Cop City defendants, and mark 25 years since the historic "Battle in Seattle" against corporate globalization by speaking with a long-time anarchist who was there.

It's the season for #cycling in the dark.
Don't you hate those cyclists whose front #lights are blinding?
When I can't see s^$t apart from the light, I just slow down and go towards it until I can see again: the face of the owner who is forced to stop.
Then I politely explain that a light should show the road, not blind others.
And I do mean politely. Being annoyed is fine, being rude isn't going to work.
Also doesn't work on #cars . Fast + armored = dangerous.
So quite some tech journalists and "influencers" out there keep on telling us that #Mastodon (and the whole #fediverse, because they typically don't know that there is more than just one service ;) is losing users after the last wave of newcomers.
Weird thing is: I keep on getting more followers and my timeline is getting better and better with a lot of inspiring content and respectful discussions.
So, I guess, smaller is better :)

Just remember that #capitalism is all #PopMusic, and that explains why computing is such a shitshow.
(Yes, this was inspired by a tl;dr, paywalled, blog-based, rant about how internet and social media have gone to shit.)
The key words "MUST", "MUST NOT", "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED BUT REPULSIVE", "WRONG BUT WROMANTIC", "FREQUENTLY MISUNDERSTOOD", "NOBODY BOTHERS WITH THIS BIT", "SHOULDN'T REALLY BUT WE WON'T JUDGE", "REQUIRED IN ORDER TO WORK AROUND EVERYONE ELSE'S BUGS", "YOU DO YOU", and "OBVIOUSLY ABSURD BUT VERY COMMON FOR SOME REASON" in this document are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119.

The Syrian revolution started off as a bottom-up, working class uprising from the peripheries organised through local coordination committees. They set up local councils throughout the liberated areas that coordinated to provide services in the absence of a state.
They actually experienced life without the state, and they thrived. They were the living proof that not only can it be done, but that it can be fun and meaningful.

I may be coming across as some academic computer science nerd. It's actually the opposite. I'm a humanities nerd who cares about the agency of users so much I've twisted myself into a shape where I can do a computer science thing.
But architecture matters. It affects the worlds we can have.
Holy moly. I just learned that only 27% of the German population bought at least a single book (including audio and ebooks) in 2023. I mean, not even ONE book in a year!?
