Hey, folks. I need some help.
One of my partners was in a car wreck a few days ago. They have a spinal fracture (T12 for certain, others unknown). They also have Ehlers-Dahlos syndrome.
So far the doctors are saying that a thoraco-lumbar fusion is going to be necessary. What they're not sure of is how well a spinal fusion is going to work while also being hypermobile.
Does anybody out there have experience with this? Any anecdotes? Data points? Papers to reference?
it might seem weird to toot this from carfree dot city, but go VW auto workers!
would i rather they were making buses and trains and e-bikes?—obviously, but as long as there are cars, the people who make them damn well deserve a union. labor is entitled to all it creates

"Changing elements usually has the least effect on the system. If you change all the players on a football team, it is still recognizably a football team. (It may play much better or much worse—particular elements in a system can indeed be important.) A tree changes its cells constantly..., but it is still essentially the same tree. Your body replaces most of its cells every few weeks, but it goes on being your body."
---Donella Meadows, _Thinking in Systems_
In *any* system, power will consolidate if not periodically disrupted.
Uniform unchanging ecosystems trend toward small numbers of species (about one per distinct ecological niche). The reason we have biological diversity is periodic physical disruptions (fire, drought, windstorms, etc.), combined with spatial patchiness.

#Forgejo v1.21.11-1 was just released. It contains a single bug fix for a regression introduced in v1.21.11-0 by which creating a tag via the API would fail with error 500 on a repository where a Forgejo Actions workflow triggered by tags exists. We recommend to upgrade only if you are impacted.
Check out the release notes and download it at https://forgejo.org/releases/. If you experience any issues with this release, please report to https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/issues.

The UK government is reported to be drawing up plans to nationalise parts of the failing water industry; & to take liability for the debts created by previous directors & shareholders.
Let's just pause & think about this for a moment.
The directors & shareholders have acquired immense sums of money by dubious means; they are responsible for the current situation. They must remain responsible for the debts, while the UK takes over the assets & responsibilities of providing the service.
Arizona governor vetoes bill seeking to erase trans folks from public life. “As I have said time and again, I will not sign legislation that attacks Arizonans," declared Gov. Katie Hobbs.
In Republican-controlled legislatures, cruelty is policy. Latest:
"A Louisiana House committee voted Thursday to repeal a law requiring employers to give child workers lunch breaks and to cut unemployment benefits — part of a push by Republicans to remove constraints on employers and reduce aid for injured and unemployed workers."
