Most disturbing about the #BU Dean (a computer scientist) suggesting using #ai for discussion section “feedback” is how it promotes or at least acquiesces to the burgeoning deepfake industry.

The suggestion didn’t mention the need to be honest with our students about it.

Again the FOSS world has proven to be vigilant and proactive in finding bugs and backdoors. The level of transparency is stellar, especially compared to proprietary software companies. What the FOSS world has accomplished in 24 hours after detection of the backdoor code in #xz deserves a moment of humbleness. @fleeky The Federal gov't does not fund it's spending with taxes - it has a legal obligation to offset spending through taxes or issuance of securities, but that is a self-imposed restriction. As father of modern econ Paul Samuelson once admitted, the idea that the government must fund it's spending is like "old time religion": not true, but a lie that's good for you to believe.

- literally anyone
