so I'm looking for some assistance setting up a plex media server on my main networked computer for use with other devices in my home that have the plex app on them. My issue is that most of my movies and/or tv shows are audio only, so they are mp3 and/or ogg formats. Adding the folder that contains my media to libraries yields no content within those libraries. If anyone who is blind has successfully set up plex with audio only movie/tv show content, I'd like to pick your brain. 🤯🙃😕
Mutual Aid 101: History, Politics, and Organizational Structures of Community Care
"The relief network Indigenous Mutual Aid writes “Indigenous Peoples have long-established practices of caring for each other for our survival, particularly in times of crisis. Mutual Aid is nothing new to Indigenous communities.”...During the COVID-19 outbreak their organization, K’é Infoshop, took relief efforts into their own hands rather than rely on the Navajo government"
In the United States, when you buy a house or a car, you become a target of scammers. They will send mail to your house, pretending to be your mortgage company or your auto maker or your auto lender, insisting that you must give more money for some other thing. I received these three—two postcards, one "URGENT" letter—just today.
The U.S. is a scam culture. We are beset at all times by people trying to trick us out of our money, and it’s all functionally legal.

Code sharing increases citations but remains uncommon
https://doi.org/10.21203/rs.3.rs-3222221/v1
'We examine temporal trends in code sharing in ecology and evolution publications since 2010.
We find that scientists are overwhelmingly (95%) failing to publish their code.
We also find code sharing can considerably improve citations.'
Wow. 8 hours in, #Microsoft is still sending the vaguest possible descriptions of the maybe-problem with #Azure #DNS and what they’e tried to resolve it. Still not fixed.
I’m betting this is another #InfoSec blunder.
So glad this customer is still in pre-prod mode so the problem(?) isn’t breaking anything that anyone notices...
I just mentioned the new 404Media journalism outlet. This @josephcox story, on of its first, is a harrowing reminder that America's credit bureaus are a security and privacy nightmare -- and that, short of Congress giving a damn (It doesn't) you can be a target of criminals with just a few clicks.
Four excellent (former) Motherboard journalists have created their own subscription outlet. It already shows great promise.
I wish they had a lower-cost subscription tier -- and I don't see them here on Mastodon (a major omission).
But it's great to see that they're using open-source Ghost as their platform.

The so-called "Constitutional Sheriffs" are among the most dangerous people in America -- and their malign influence is growing. Here's some great student reporting from ASU's Cronkite School (I work there) and the Arizona Center for Investigative Journalism. https://azcir.org/cspoa/
This trom one of my favourite economists - not that that list is very long.
“It is a patrician fantasy to create a global economic system whereby the poor perpetually pay real compound interest to the rich.”

Police officers in Ohio and Wisconsin are the latest to exploit a victims’ rights law to shield their names from the public when they wound or even kill people in the line of duty, making it harder for the public and press to hold them to account. https://freedom.press/news/police-use-victims-rights-law-to-hide-from-scrutiny/

Many people think that being a good facilitator is a trait one is born with. "Some people are born facilitators." But facilitation is more like a craft - it's learnable. Get facilitation practice in our next course👉 https://t.co/2Cf7VdqInX
Seeing the topic, mansplaining, again, I have to attempt to say, "Before you accuse a man of mansplaining, first make sure he is not an engineer." Many examples of mansplaining have reminded me of that certain type of person at my engineering job, who always assumes they are talking to a person of lessor knowledge; gender doesn't matter. Therefore sometimes "mansplaining" is "engineersplaining".
Like the line from the Fear song goes, "I am an engineer; you're doing that all wrong."
