Does anyone out there have a ready-made tool they like to use to view their downloaded Mastodon archives?

Is Star Trek the ultimate extension of settler colonialism? You have the Prime Directive to prevent this, but oops! Accidently violated it, and the Federation has to send it's missionaries. It happens often enough in the Star Trek universe that one has to wonder if it's not by design. Roddenberry pitching the show with Wagon Train and Horatio Hornblower reinforces the settler aspect.

Maybe "explore strange new worlds" should be cut from the mission and stay in your space become the priority.

I'm glad that articles like this by Tatum Hunter that walk you through how to opt out of cellular carrier tracking exist, but I'm sad they are necessary. This is exactly why we created the AweSIM service. washingtonpost.com/technology/

"Christianity has long been a vector distributing destruction in Indian Country" - Red Nation Rising. PM Press. Nick Estes et al.

This statement led me to consider Christianity's role in the cultural genocide of all my ancestors. Nice to see that there has been some studies of the Roman Empire's role in spreading Christianity through violence to my Scottish and Germanic forbears.

Now many can't even fathom living without a yoke.

Watching these geniuses trying to wrap their heads around the basics of our society is like watching a toddler get excited when they figure out how the volume on the TV remote works.

The problem with ESG is not that it's "woke": the problem is that it's greenwashing.

Standardised metrics won't change the fact that if you invest in an ETF that screens out fossil fuel companies, it has zero impact on how profitable polluting is.

"While #TheAnarchistsHBO has proven to be a pathetic excuse for a documentary on anarchism and its theories and practical applications, it is shaping up to be a decent documentary on how flawed and invalid anarcho-capitalism is. Anarcho-capitalism is not an anarchist ideology but rabid individualism where those outside of Olympus must fend for themselves. The only freedom they fight for is the freedom to continue to build a surplus of capital..." thecinemaspot.com/2022/08/01/a

Ugh. rnz.co.nz/news/national/471997 If these folks did a price comparison, I'm confident they'd be able to cut costs by 50-80% using a provider who is *not* Microsoft or Amazon. I doubt such comparisons take place. I suspect there're always (spurious) trumped up requirements that only one mega-corp provider can fulfill. Seems ridiculous that our gov't continues to fall into these holes. I'm convinced it's entirely due to lobbying (which is a slightly wishy-washy way of saying 'corruption').

"On the desktop (“client”) side, Microsoft is throwing wrenches at the cogwheels at hardware level. This whole UEFI thing is obnoxious and they’ve infiltrated a lot of organisations such as OSI and the Linux Foundation, rendering them Microsoft advocacy groups, i.e. the very antithesis of their original purpose/s."

"Microsoft’s search engine, which Microsoft now markets by proxy in DuckDuckGo (DDG). Yes, DDG is like a Microsoft-hosted Bing proxy that allows Microsoft to spy on everybody. DDG’s management now openly admits this while refusing to spill all the beans, citing an NDA."
