I've just had a good recommendation for a fully #FOSS Client Relationship Management system (CRM) - EspoCRM: espocrm.com/self-hosted-vs-clo They can host your data, or you can. You choose. Any web service that doesn't give you that option is effectively ransomware, holding your data hostage.

"People want more relevant ads" sounds reasonable, until you realise that "more relevant" means "tailored to influence your specific behaviour".

For example, showing you articles about the futility of voting if you're likely to vote a certain way.

So this is how the US federal gov't reacts when its primary donors are threatened with "paying their fair share"... rt.com/business/520150-us-reta The US federal gov't needs to be dissolved and the all US corporate written treaties (like the #TPPA & #TTIP) torn up as should always have been the case.

"... agriculture’s largest contribution to climate change stems from ... synthetic nitrogen fertiliser. By reducing ... chemical fertilisers and substituting it with high-quality organic fertilisers, half of all agricultural greenhouse gas emissions could be prevented while simultaneously building humus."

@LeoSammallahti I just finished reading this book on the rise and fall of radical left politics in NE Montana. During the 1910s & 20s, socialists ran Sheridan County. They gained power by focusing on local problems and providing services to farmers.

Then CPUSA took notice of their success, and some of the local leaders decided they were destined for bigger stages than were available in Plentywood, MT...and it ruined everything.

Successful social democratic movements were built on cooperatives, unions and the party forming an intertwined ecosystem of mass membership organisations that provided tangible benefits in the everyday life of the ordinary people who participated in them.

My new article "Cooperatives can help explain the rise and fall of social democracy. They can also help revitalise it." on Mutual Interest, a free-to-read media #coop owned by the readers and the writers.

That article was inspired by @ntnsndr "Populism of Hope Begins When People Feel Their Own Power". It caused one of the biggest AHA! moments of my life.

Had been a member of the social democratic party since I was 16, and was obsessed with explaining its decline.

That piece made me realise that it wasn't about leaders or the election manifesto policies - it was about how we do organising.
Working on a longer, better written article that delves into this in more detail.

People really seem to get upset when the word, ignorance, is used in some form or another. I don't understand it; how does one resolve their ignorance on a subject, if they can't admit they are ignorant? Used ignorance on a moderated forum once and the moderator flagged it as mean spirited, when it was used in a reasoned context. "Some people might not like the inference that they are ignorant." If you want to increase your knowledge, then listen and debate; don't run and hide.

I just learned VLC in Linux can stream videos to a Chromecast. One more task my Librem 5 can take over from my old Android phone.
