This is what anticapitalist resistance looks like.
Organisers in Barcelona have set up a "strike house" to host talks and workshops in preparation for the general strike on 11th November.
Strikes against property speculation and the cost of living have been confirmed in more than 80 locations.

@Remittancegirl absolutely.
I miss my colleague's typo-y emails. I see their copilot nonsense, it's too long and waffly and its devoid of their personality.
People are worried they're not coming across 'right'
Now they're just not coming across at all.
@randahl These claims could easily have been made by trolls and bots trying to undermine confidence in elections in the US.
Remember that elections are run by states in the US, and rigging election machines is incredibly risky to do for vendors, because they will be found separately liable by 50 state courts, and they can’t be pardoned by the president for state crimes.
I want to see actual proof of this happening before spreading these rumors any further.
I'm actually a bit upset about this. 🙁
@RosannaSibora , @_elena and a whole coalition of open source orgs were hoping to organize a track at #FOSDEM27 about Diversity, Equality, Inclusivity and Belonging (DEIB) in #FOSS.
It got rejected.
@RosannaSibora and @_elena this is such a shame. I've been going to FOSDEM for about 7 years now and every year it's a sea of white men.
This track could have been an opportunity to include some fresh perspectives and talk about diversity in #FOSS.
We had an awesome group of organizers coming from @nextcloud , @fdroidorg , Red Hat, @SUSE , @drupal , @linuxfoundation EU, and OSPO's.
We were so excited that we had already started designing stickers and organizing funds for speakers, etc ☹️

I'm sooo disappointed by this news. I was absolutely convinced the devroom would be accepted: there is always such a lack of diversity at #FOSDEM and this track would have brought a breath of fresh air 🥲
Huge thanks to @RosannaSibora and @Gina for spearheading the initiative. Let's try again in 2028!

truly a wild time to be alive when the cryptography world is split between those worried about quantum computers and those whose private key is “4”
"I keep coming back to this graph because it’s so eye-popping, almost impossible to believe. As you see in the legend, the blue line is data centers. The grey line is everything else. Everything else. Commercial properties. Rental properties. Single family homes. Multiple family homes. Pick your preferred flavor of development, NIMBY, YIMBY, urban, rural, it’s in there. You basically have rapid data center growth and everything else contracting."

If Elon has used his companies to put his thumb on the scales of war, does that mean his companies are now legitimate military targets?
When a platform offers who privacy, always ask "Privacy from whom?"
"Of course, while locking a chat can limit access, it doesn’t address concerns about how sensitive information is stored or handled...locking a chat doesn’t create end-to-end encryption or a separate encrypted vault, change how long it retains the chat, remove information that ChatGPT remembered before a chat was locked, or change the 'Improve the model for everyone' setting."

Claroc’s discovery of easily-searchable #Meta Muse #AI conversations is clarifying to me for several reasons:
1. This case illustrates the difference between *access* and *searchability*. While these shared conversations were open to the public, I doubt their sharers understood that they were easily *searchable* through 3rd party passive DNS query logs. While some privacy advocates may claim that anything public is PUBLIC for all purposes, I think privacy through obscurity is still something worth designing into social systems, because it meaningfully lowers the risk of abuse, even with public data.
2. But the corollary remains valid: you shouldn’t publicly share anything you don’t want to be easily available to adversaries.
3. People use Meta Muse, of all things, to conduct business-critical tasks, even confidential ones. This is inconceivable to me, but apparently this is something people do.
Accident Or Not, The No Kings Takedown Is Why You Shouldn’t Rent Your Megaphone From Zuck - https://www.techdirt.com/2026/10/20/accident-or-not-the-no-kings-takedown-is-why-you-shouldnt-rent-your-megaphone-from-zuck/ " Even if you believe that Zuckerberg and Trump were laughing their heads off and jointly pressing the button to silence the No Kings account, the real problem was that this was possible in the first place."
