2. People "denying" the machine god narrative, like me, are akin to anti-vaxxers & climate deniers.

These are things they're saying to the left politicians they've captured, like Bernie Sanders who's being advised on "AI" by eugenicist doomsday cult leaders.

Part of the problem, I think, is that some otherwise well-meaning people genuinely don't know how to distinguish between engagement and control when it comes to dealing with children, in part because they don't fully recognize the humanity of children.

When these dudes were in university, Black people and women were driven out of computer science programs.

When these same dudes were software engineers, running hiring committees, Black engineers and women suddenly couldn't get hired, despite being all over the early industry.

When these same dudes became Venture Capitalists, Black people and women couldn't raise any money or get on any boards, even though Black women disproportionately start small businesses.

Now that these dudes are centi-billionaires, they're open and vocal about their explicitly ethnic cleansing policy positions, and get alt-right presidents elected, and end DEI, and roll back civil rights, and say that giving women the right to vote was a mistake, and talk about white birth rates.

And I have to read nonsense from journalists saying that the extreme money turned them fash?🤡

No.

You turned fash into extremely wealthy people. By being asleep at the wheel while the worst people on earth amassed untouchable levels of wealth.

It's been obvious for a few years that the AI industry is building a great big
financial bomb made of recycled debt, but I'm sort of amazed at just *how* big the bomb is.

Even if AI was *all that* technically - which it isn't - the financial bomb will *still* go off.

At this point the questions should all be: when, not if, it goes off - what happens next?

Imagine you're having a remote appointment with your doctor for a very personal health issue.

Your doctor is a tech enthusiast, and is proudly wearing the new Apple Watch with all the recording features enabled.

You don't see the "Audible and visible signals for Live Rewind", because you don't see your doctor's wrist on videochat or on speakerphone.

The "Omitted content" safeguard fails to detect the sensitive conversation, because none of the pre-selected keywords are detected.

"What about all the privacy laws protecting me?", you claim in distress.

Sadly, your doctor is unaware and thinks "surely Apple respects all the laws by default?"

The medical clinic isn't informed about privacy risks related to new technologies, and hasn't implemented any training or policies about it yet.

Your sensitive health data is collected by Apple's new features, stored on their servers, blissfully unaware of the infringements to your consent, your privacy, and all the laws supposed to protect you.

This is only one scenario of the many surveillance nightmares we might hear about in the coming months and years.

It seems immoral to hold on to vacant houses during a housing shortage simply because you’re not getting the price you want.

I am fucking tired of AI. I am fucking tired of my in-laws trying to show me the things their son, "made," with AI. I am fucking tired of explaining why I won't take an AI centric job for any amount of money. I am fucking tired of people telling me how AI has helped them, "learn," new concepts. I am fucking tired of hearing people say, "I use it to make pictures with my grandchildren!"

I am so fucking tired of the blatant theft of every bit of intellectual property on the planet, whether it was bolted down or not. I am fucking tired of the wholesale distillation of human thought and achievement into a sludge of on-demand dopamine boosting energy drink.

I am so fucking tired of the datacenters. I am so fucking tired of hearing how it is going to solve global warming, while it continues to contribute to global fucking warming. I am fucking tired of the endless cycle of hype being the only profit center with regard to AI. I am fucking tired of watching farmland turn to concrete blocks that generate pollution and stupid.

I am so fucking tired of people telling me it is a useful tool. I am so tired of being reminded to check AI's work, because it often makes mistakes. I am fucking tired of hearing that AI is going to democratize things such as art, music, and software development. I am fucking tired of watching people I thought were intelligent succumb to the idiocy of AI tools.

I am so fucking tired of playing the, "Is it AI slop or not?" game every time I see, hear, or read something. I am fucking tired of random phone calls with AI agents on the other end. I am so fucking tired of being told it has beneficial uses. I am fucking tired of being told that these tools are here to stay. I am fucking tired of being told that I will be left behind.

And if you use AI tools, I am so completely and utterly fucking tired of you.

@kawa @davidgerard 2 mathematicians were working on a problem called Navier Stokes. There's money to be won for solving it, proving or disproving. Those mathematicians were working on the problem in the fucking ChatGPT chat and gave it all their notes.

So OpenAI plagiarised their work and reached out to one mathematician to publish it jointly with (or just credit, I don't remember) that mathematician, but decline to mention the other mathematician because he works for Anthropic. The first mathematician said no. OpenAI threatened "Do you really want to ruin your career?" The mathematician replied "I am an academic" and published his statement about the events.

Fools, tools, and grifters internet-wide are claiming that ChatGPT solved the problem.
