Thank you #FOSDEM Graphics track organizers for accepting my proposal! I'm excited to tell where I (re-)took this #Wayland project I started back in 2018!

Curse you FOSDEM organizers for accepting my proposal! Now I have to prepare it :P

If our authorities exist for the protection of the people, then the laws should exist for the protection of the people, not the protection of authorities. If the law exists for the protection of authorities, then the authorities do not exist for the protection of the people.

It is important that the achievements of Schengen, of free movement in Europe without border control are emphasised. German EU law professor Werner Schroeder decided to sue Germany over illegal controls euobserver.com/rule-of-law/ar0

I'm helping an elderly person with a patient portal, and wow, there are about 4 different problems ranging from unclear instructions to pages that don't work well when the phone is zoomed in enough for an older person to actually read the text.

Plus, the iPhone keeps popping up unhelpful gunk.

This person isn't particularly afraid of technology either, but they literally can't do it.

I now think every web developer should be forced to walk through their processes with an 85-year-old.

I made a map of all the public transit in Vermont! It's the map I always wish I had when I plan travel there. My goal is that someone sees this map, learns about a bus near them, and then takes the bus because of it.

Governor Walz addresses the Trump regime's attack on Minnesota. He implores people to show solidarity with their neighbors -- by, among other things, documenting the federal thugs' violent attacks on unarmed people so that, someday, the criminals will face justice.

Only one week after the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, The NYT confirming that federal agents have shot an immigrant in the leg at a protest in Minneapolis.

During the George Floyd protests in 2020, Trump asked Secretary of Defence Mark Esper if they could “shoot protesters in the leg”.

He was worried the protests made the country look weak.

He wanted a show of force.

Esper refused.

This time around, no one says “No” to Trump.

It’s costing lives.

US Big Tech is conspiring with European (and American) fascists to wreck the EU's ability to even modestly regulate this rogue industry, which has unparalleled -- and growing -- power over people's lives.

Fascism and tech are an unholy, and maybe unstoppable, alliance.

In case it somehow wasn't already obvious how completely repellent the administration's legal harassment of Becca Good (Renee Good's widow) is, *six* senior career prosecutors in the local US Attorney's office resigned today because they wanted no part of it.

SIX.

@pluralistic I hadn’t adequately considered how AI slop-coding tools might be used to allow our overlords to steer our art and our communities.

As the Trump regime steamrolls everything in sight, congressional Democrats are demonstrating weakness with more enthusiasm every day.

NEW: A note apparently from AFSCME Council 5 says they confirmed Hennepin Healthcare is "complying with a request" from DHS "for access to employee I-9 forms" which could lead to the "potential targeting of workers based on immigration status".
Interim CEO of Hennepin Healthcare resigned Tuesday.
