It’s starting to feel like Threads isn’t integrating ActivtyPub in good faith. Besides no new fediverse features in many months, now they’re popping up this message up which will likely discourage many users from keeping it on. And if they’re influencing people to turn it off, they could then say the data suggests people aren’t interested in the feature.

The Internet Archive is hiring a Director of Platform Engineering. In my opinion, this is the most crucial and important position we have had open at the company in some time. The right person in this position is not just helpful, but a make or break key between success and merely acceptable levels of technological advance for the archive. It's a non-profit level of pay but the work is world changing.
What’s the relationship between combating the far right and working for systemic change? Mark your calendars: "Three Way Fight: Revolutionary Politics & Antifascism" book launch Sunday 7/14 at 4pm at our bookstore in Ithaca NY, Autumn Leaves Books, featuring co-editor (and Ithaca native) Matthew N. Lyons!

We're quickly coming up on Matariki, the Māori New Year which this year falls on July 28. It's a great time to teach about Māori culture with Whale Rider, the award-wining film about a Māori girl who challenges tradition to fulfill her destiny. Make it a film-book pairing with the book the film was based on, The Whale Rider by Witi Ihimaera.
Our classroom-ready lesson plans for teaching with Whale Rider cover subjects across the curriculum, including a mathematics lesson on counting the uncountable, and a science lesson on whales and echolocation.

CNN is flummoxed, foundering, and ruderless. They might has well have had Vanna White at the debate, pointing to the next question. The Times is broken. The Post is being invaded from within. Murdoch's empire has been successful at its insurrectionist mission. Sinclair is accessory to that crime. Hedge funds control most newspaper chains. News media are a dire disaster and, no, it's not a crisis of business. It is a crisis of mission.
Daniel Dale is CNN's fact checker. He's fact-checking the debate in real time on his Twitter feed.
There are a couple things Biden's said that Dale says are not quite right, or need some context explained to be technically true.
Other than that, it's dozens and dozens of tweets pointing out Trump's bald-faced lies.
Some reason CNN isn't running this as a Chyron on the broadcast?
If you have not yet watched John Oliver’s presentation of the plans for Trump’s second term, I recommend you do.
Yes, it is a comedy show, but the facts presented are extremely important and eye opening.
Last Week Tonight is on Max, but if you are not a subscriber, there is a 30 minute version of the show here on YouTube:
