It’s starting to feel like Threads isn’t integrating ActivtyPub in good faith. Besides no new fediverse features in many months, now they’re popping up this message up which will likely discourage many users from keeping it on. And if they’re influencing people to turn it off, they could then say the data suggests people aren’t interested in the feature.

I should be more clear about this, actually. I don't think that all or even most people who call themselves "libertarians", and who use the word "freedom" actually desire a Pinochet-like dictatorship. I do think that it's worth pointing out that von Hayek was just dandy with a violent dictator with a penchant for throwing his political opposition out of helicopters, and that his thought lead him to support that outcome should tell us something about 1/2

News media are a dire disaster and, no, it's not a crisis of business. It is a crisis of mission.
