There were four people arrested at the A15 action in Toronto, including two Dene/Anishinaabe activists. Palestinian Solidarity activists in Toronto have been targeted for increased surveillance and repression. Settler-colonial states have each other's backs, and we need to too!

Earth Day still on your mind? Our “planned obsolescence” throwaway culture doesn’t have to be, and shouldn’t be, a technology status quo, @RepairCoalition leader Gay Gordon-Byrne tells EFF’s Cindy Cohn and @jgkelley on the new episode of “How to Fix the Internet.” https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/04/podcast-episode-right-repair-catches-car

I'll add that she wasn't recognized because she was a girl, poor, and black—what scholars call the “triple invisibility.” After her strike, her life was threatened and her family home was burned down.
Scholastic Magazine asked me to write two articles about Barbara, one for middle school level readers, and one for younger readers.

Today is an important anniversary.
73 years ago, on April 23, 1951, in Farmville, VA, Barbara Johns led a walkout of her segregated high school to protest the unfair and deplorable conditions of her school.
What?! You don’t know who Barbara Johns was?
She led her walkout more than 4 years before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus, and before MLK, Jr. embraced nonviolence as the way to equality.

➡️ It's a Big Freaking Deal when we can move any #UnitedNations organization away from #Microsoft.
The system-wide IT shop UNICC has announced its move to #Matrix:

Notable that the UN has moved to Element (Matrix protocol) as the basis of its messaging.
I'd like to see tech journalists do some serious coverage of Element, which seems to be a genuine alternative to the centralized, rapacious tech giants that spy on their customers for a living.

THEY DID IT!!!!
My local library built the seed library!
The local Master Gardeners provided a lot of the intitial seeds (oh my gosh we are stocked!!!). They used an old card catalogue to store them. Today's the kickoff!
The idea is you "check out seeds" from the library, plant/grow/harvest, let some go to seed, then "return the seeds" back to the library!
Free seeds for everyone!
Yes, this is good to see! https://activitypub.ghost.org Read all the way down...
