Performance review time is where weak managers want you to write your own reasons for why you're employed. "Another year of doing my job." for some reason doesn't seem sufficient justification. You have to have accomplishments, as if you really had autonomy, might be able to get paid more than average wages, or the company actually had non-management promotion paths. #notreality

Yoda is a caricature of ESL (English as a Second Language) speakers. Does that caricature add to Yoda's mystique, or is it just another prejudice inserted into the Star Wars universe? #romanticracism

@fribbledom You also don't necessarily need to buy new. The local uni has a surplus sale warehouse that sells good quality used office furniture. I also got a used Herman Miller at another sale for $200; it just needed cleaning and new castor wheels.

@dynamic Link took me to cases, so I wondered what you were talking about, then I saw small ribbon menu near top of link page that had "U.S. Cases Hospitals Vaccines World Cases". NPR front page had an article (quite a ways down) on state vaccinations that took me to the "Vaccines" section.

@kyle This is true even in languages that are considered at a higher level of abstraction. i.e., closer to human language or clearer in describing the problem solution. Leon Starr does a very good job of explaining why good documentation is important in his book, Executable UML: How to Build Class Models. He also stresses how important it is to preserve even the little pictures that you might draw to help yourself understand the problem. Documenting assumptions is very important.
