@lightweight I always do a RAID1 drive as well as backups. It saved me once, but doubles the hard drive budget.
@lightweight Like I said, I use backups as well, and I certainly wouldn't expect a carbon copy of my drive (RAID1) to fix a bad install. For a hard drive failure, the fix is usually just swapping in the carbon copy disk.
@lwriemen My home server's got RAID'd nvmes for the root partition, but not my desktop. I could do it... 🤔 Will ponder.
@lwriemen yeah, I've done that elsewhere... but it can make things far more difficult to recover (in my experience). In this case, I've gone with comprehensive backups and it gives me an unexpected opportunity to remove kruft from my working environment 😎 😂
