Core postmarketOS contributor Clayton is crowdfunding a new laptop for @postmarketOS development. He's raised over 50%, let's get it all the way! This is an excellent way to support the advancement of Mobile Linux. @craftyguy @linmob #linux #mobilelinux #postmarketos
@tuxedocomputers just subscribed. What I am most excited to hear about are any updates on the laptop with the Snapdragon X Elite. For some years now, I only buy systems if they are preconfigured to run Linux as I don't want to deal with hardware compatibility issues. Also, I've wanted a high performance ARM laptop for years. As far as I can tell, your laptop is the only development on that front. So anyway, when you get a chance, could you please provide us an update on this. Thanks!
@z3ntu @matthewcroughan That's actually super interesting. Do those glasses work well with the phone and which model of glasses were those specifically? Is it just using display port via USB-C?
@knightsofbytes do we get any hints, I'm very curious?
@geerlingguy I don't know the details but, I do know that I very much want that...
@tschak YouTube ad revenue?
@juandesant @RonsCompVids the guy from the Retro Recipes YT channel (Perifractic) just recently announced that he is in the process of buying Commodore and thereby becoming the CEO. That may be the thing you are missing.
@tschak There used to be a time when Nvidia GPUs gave the best experience on Linux. However that hasn't been the case for over five years now. Nowadays, I recommend AMD GPUs if you are building a Linux machine.
That said, if you are sitting on a system with an Nvidia GPU, I might recommend that you try out PopOS. That distro is developed by System76 who sell Linux machines with Nvidia GPUs. They provide install ISOs specifically for systems with Nvidia GPUs. That will probably be your best bet.
@mntmn @LinaroLtd Ooh, a proper Linux tablet. That's super exciting news!
@cas Seeing as I have a FP4 and like postmarketOS, consider me very interested. Thank you for your hard work!
send some kernel patches... these improve charging on sdm845 and enable support for the smb5 charger found on snapdragon 855/865 and a bunch of other socs (including the fairphone 4)
