This level of tracking of shoppers, even if it's to streamline checkout, is creepy. #privacy https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/28/technology/whole-foods-amazon-automation.html?smid=tw-share
@ehashman what was the downside of books which would make a dedicated stand better? Wondering if I should change my setup

@lukas@digitalcourage.social @Decentralize_today I hope Element or Fluffychat will become as easy to use and as performant as Signal. Unfortunately it is not there yet.
@hypolite @cstanhope @Hyolobrika@mstdn.io Personally, I am against what the protest became. They hurt the wrong people and a large enough subset were terrible to the local residents and unrelated institutions that it diluted any point that they may have had.
That doesn't change my assertion that there's a place for digital equivalent to cash, and bitcoin is provably not it. I used bitcoin from when there were no exchanges. It's possible, and worked.
@info_activism interesting article, but difficult to read using Firefox on a relatively modern tablet as the scrolling is very, very slow. A bit ironic for a "low tech" website.

The wonderful #XMPP-client #dino now supports audio/video calls between two or more people! Especially now many of us are stuck at home, we need a way to collaborate & socialize in a privacy-friendly way. Dino uses the XMPP-protocol for decentralized communication and with an intuitive user interface, helps you reach out to friends, family and co-workers, both for larger groups with a server in the middle as well as private groups directly peer-to-peer -> https://dino.im/blog/2022/02/dino-0.3-release/
I also like Aral's "Three Lws of Personal Devices", which have always seemed self-evident to me but apparently aren't

You can call a friend or a group of people. Calls are e2e-encrypted, peer-to-peer and compatible with other XMPP applications.

Check out the new #streaming service #Resonate! It is a co-op owned by the artists and listeners – no VC money! It is still young and does not have #Spotify's massive catalog … but I love it!
I strongly encourage you to check out their About page to get a compact explanation of how it works: https://resonate.is/about/
Oh, and everything is #OpenSource and they have spent a lot of effort fostering a constructive community – it is a #coop after all.
