#FOSSY is organized around tracks submitted and run by community members. You can still get your proposal in at https://sfconservancy.org/fossy/community-tracks/ to help shape this year's event! Personally I'd love to see some around #mobile, #ai, and licensing. (Separately, or together!)
3 years ago today is when I caught up to the (then) present with the @penaddict podcast (episode 553), after starting from the beginning. Have listened every week since. I know this because of my Midori 5-year journal, which I'm pretty sure I learned about from said podcast.
I finished "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" by Becky Chambers. A short sweet break. Back to the Bookers, started "The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida" by Shehan Karunatilaka which so far I find too confusing but we'll see. Also finished rereading "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" by Murakami which I had to reread after reading his "The City and Its Uncertain Walls" which is the same book, sort of. Immediate temptation is to now reread "The City and Its Uncertain Walls". #books.
Finished monthly #Debian keyring updates push.
The @torproject VPN app for Android is now available in @fdroidorg and therefore guaranteed to be fully Free Software, rebuilt from source.
Spread the word about the new Android app "Nearby Glasses" that watches for Bluetooth signals of "smart" glasses from Meta Facebook, Oakley, and Snap. No network permissions needed. AGPLv3 and coming to F-Droid ASAP.

Today, idly wondering why we stick with the "###" in #LibreOffice Calc as the indicator for "column too narrow". I know it's convention, but one of the least useful software messages I think I've ever seen.
Most recently, we were forced to cancel a performance by Les Ballets Africains after artists from the Republic of Guinea were unable to obtain visas. Habib Koité, from Mali—whom we have welcomed to Boston 17 times since his first appearance with us in 2000—was forced to cancel his tour due to visa denials. We had been working to bring back Tinariwen, Tuareg artists from the Sahara region of southern Algeria and northern Mali, but their upcoming tour was abruptly halted because of visa issues."
"As Boston’s champion for global music and artists, Global Arts Live is facing a moment unlike anything in our 35-year history. This year alone, we have lost three concerts due to our federal administration’s expanding travel bans. These cancellations are heartbreaking for our audiences and devastating for the artists who rely on touring for their livelihoods.

People should be able to write software for Android, and distribute it outside Google's Play store, without having to:
* pay Google
* give government to with Google
* agree to Google terms and conditions
People should be able to install the software they want on their phone, from sources other than Google's Play store, without having to jump through Google-imposed hoops.
e.g. via F-Droid.
We've got until September this year to stop Google squeezing the open Android ecosystem.

Finished "Flesh" by David Szalay. Amazing rhythm. There is little I hate more in reading fiction than paragraphs that never end -- this is the opposite, so many semantically overlapping one sentence paragraphs that get everything done with room to spare. Definitely want to read more by him.
Starting "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" by Becky Chambers as a familiar short and probably not dark or twisted break between Bookers. #books
