If "community" to you means more than "the people using the software/service we own," you will find your people at #FOSSY. Talk
submissions are open until Monday, April 28th:

We haven't done the full lifecycle analysis, but we strongly suspect using more #fountainpens filled via bottled ink instead of disposable ballpoints/rollerballs is a nice thing to think about doing for your #EarthDay small positive changes list.

Feel old.

This is a good, insightful testimonial piece on Lifehacker and has the potential to be a great interview series. People I know should respond to the call :) lifehacker.com/tech/how-much-c

A Mobile track at FOSSY was just added to the schedule! 🎉

If you have a talk about FOSS on mobile devices that you've always wanted to give, now is your chance 😁

As you plan your week ahead, don't forget to get your #FOSSY talk proposal in by Monday, April 28 (anywhere on Earth)! You can do it at https://2025.fossy.us/call-for-proposals/ . We are a small team putting this big event together and greatly appreciate your help in making sure everyone in your #freesoftware and #opensource circles knows about the opportunity and deadline! #portland

Good to see this happening in Japan -- I think scrutiny of deals around preinstallation of software on devices is important for the future growth of projects like @fdroidorg
, and of mobile freedom in general.

Do you think these two NYT advice columnists, published on the same day of the paper edition, knew they were separately answering the same question? Scroll to the questions about office attire..

One thing it should obviously not be is a platform actually owned and run privately by government officials (truth social, X..).

Government use of private social media has become an issue that bothers me disproportionately to what it should (naked promotion/enrichment of specific private businesses while compelling citizens to become their customers), but here's more engadget.com/social-media/the- . Would it be okay if what they were using federated? Or does there just need to be a publicly run platform (federated or not)? Or should it be privately run on a bid-based system like other government contracts?

Recently finished The City and Its Uncertain Walls (Murakami) which lead me to start rereading parts of Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. When not doing that, finished The Vegetarian (Han Kang) and now need something a little less real / destabilizing, so probably starting The Book of Love by Kelly Link.

Happy birthday Libre.fm! Can't believe I've been using it for 16 years. Thanks to @mattl and all the contributors who made it possible.
