While Basecamp is proprietary software, Apple's rejection of the "Hey" app is a demonstration of the unjust power that Apple and other companies hold over users, using #DRM and the DMCA to block you from getting apps from anyone else: u.fsf.org/33w

Patent lawsuits over DRM are really something. "Hey, *I* designed that way to make digital files defective first!!! If you want to make your files not work, you need to pay me!"

The only thing "brazen" here is limitless copyright: publishers.org/news/publishers Instead of suing, how about a conversation addressing both the interests of authors and the public interest in free speech and education.
