It's hard to overstate how formative Columbia House and BMG were to my childhood. Rip.
@pchestek how much for a squeak
@evan Even worse, it makes it sound like the 26th HOPE.
Someone at #FOSSY said they are related to a person who helped write Magnifica Humanitas.
1) please introduce yourself, you said you were on Mastodon.
2) Pope Leo didn't write it?!
Learned a lot of great things at #FOSSY
First and foremost, us #fediverse folks NEED to have a Fediverse primer for a session. Fossy is more focused on general FOSS and a LOT of folks there didn't know what the Fediverse was or how to use it. Hoping to start work on a "The Fediverse Is..." presentation that I can hopefully give next year.
The amazing @benpate@mastodon.social suggested us having a Fedi related booth. We can help folks onboard with QR codes, answer questions, have starter packs, etc.
And thank you to @karen@floss.social for excellent advice on presenting and speaking.
It was an incredible time and I recommend everyone go next year and donate to sfconservancy.org/sustainer/
Not certain if I can go next year yet, but I'll remain hopeful.
If the play button hasn't been pressed, nothing should be moving. #cranky
This is cool: https://www.engadget.com/2220912/google-pixel-old-smartphone-data-center/ (leaving aside the question of what "education software" they are being used to support). Also surprising to me: "Take the Google Pixel Fold from 2023. Via SPEC benchmarks, the researchers claim the Fold's single-threaded performance often outguns a server like the ASUS RS720-E11. On a larger scope, Google Research claims the single-threaded performance of many modern smartphones is on par with modern multicore servers."
#FOSSY is coming right up in just over 2 weeks in Vancouver, Canada and you should come! It's gonna be great.
Register to let us know you're coming, and do get in touch if you're having trouble finding accommodation!
So over "2FA" messages that are just coming back to you via the same channel you've already demonstrated control of. Isn't that still 1FA? (Click a "you've received a secure message" link in a text, which then asks you to enter the phone number wherefrom you already visited the link to begin with, so they can text you a verification code...)
@luis_in_brief yes but don't get frustrated and start yelling about Ratpoison at your gate.
Just marveling at this terms of service update GamersNexus caught LG pushing out to the owners of their (not at all cheap) TVs
