Little project I've been working on for the past two days. A reverse engineered implementation of the Android Auto server, running on my OnePlus 6 with PostmarketOS. The implementation is incredibly basic, only has basic video, but it's enough to display Sway and firefox :D

Next major step is getting it to work on a "proper" headunit. It works with my generic Chinese portable Android Auto / CarPlay screen but on a proper Toyota headunit inside a 2019 Toyota Aygo it fails somewhere along the way on the authentication chain.

@cwebber @farfalk I think it more corresponds to the death of personal computing as it was? People don't have desktops anymore and barely have laptops other than for work? Which is a problem for p2p? Seems like most people's decentralized/federated nodes for things are hosted in data centers? All question marks because just speculating.

Did Nullachtfünfzehn sow the seed for 6-7?

Really what's the deal with credit cards with MM/DD/YY expiration dates that are at the end of the month (ie 06/30/30) when everyone in the world wants MM/YY. Why create the ambiguity of, is it 06/30 or 07/30?

@mek2600 sure, probably needs some qualification about retail/hospitality/service businesses.

Businesses should be legally required to accept cash.

@kevin for the marker, there's products actually called laundry marker -- uchida.com/products/laundry-ma is the one we have, but looks like Sharpie has one too.

@bkuhn I tricked myself into remembering this by telling myself that I can create multiple links to one source, and so of course the new names have to be last because you can have as many of them as you want. Which of course you can't, but don't tell me that, because it works and I never need to do that anyway.

Businesses should be legally required to accept cash.

Seriously, who is paying $2.99 PER EPISODE for Seinfeld.

In 1914, Germany produced 90% of the world's synthetic dyes.

@penaddict As a former high school and college debater, I think your listener question was probably talking about actually flipping the pens -- as in, spinning them around thumb and fingers. Very common thing among debaters (at least Back in the Day) -- skill at that was almost as important as winning the debates! And some pens much more balanced for it than others.

Just answered my first Google AI shopping agent call. Buckle up.
