@FiXato I don't think it's so clear. RIAA really wants so called contributory infringement to be exactly the same as actual infringement, but it isn't. Also not sure that YouTube is behind a technological protection measure.

@n8 I think we are planning a bit of a retrospective / where are we now soon. I think it still holds up well and deserves an iteration.

@brainwane It is coming, but I'd say a matter of months rather than weeks still. (Also, excited about the work!)

Important #LibrePlanet 2021 news: 1) the Call for Sessions deadline has been extended to November 11th, and 2) the conference will be held in March 2021 entirely online, opening it to participation from the entire (libre)planet! u.fsf.org/36e

Who inspires you in the world of free software? Let the world know: nominate them for a Free Software Award by November 11th! u.fsf.org/357

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is looking for interns to spend the spring contributing to work in one of three areas: campaigns, licensing, or with our tech team. Apply by 11/11: u.fsf.org/36h

I already voted. Why am I still seeing commercials. Where is the AI we need.

I guess now would be a good time get that new FSF forge launched. Not that we won't also have to deal with DMCA-related notices, but I have a feeling our approach will be informed by a different set of values.

Youtube-dl is a legitimate tool with a world of a lawful uses. Demanding its removal from Github is a disappointing and counterproductive move by the RIAA. github.com/github/dmca/blob/ma

So nice of the RIAA to advertise this youtube-dl tool! Maybe someone didn't know about it. Really appreciated!

Question for the hardcore free-culture folks in the internet: do you listen to music that is released only in final, mixed form? Or do you insist that the musician has to also provide separate instrument tracks?

Serious question; I'm interested in the takes (presumably there are many points on this continuum, although I hope to find a few at least who are far into the "must have all components" range). Boosting appec.

In a world where technology can mean the difference between life and death, can we afford the restrictions proprietary software places on progress? Watch "Rewind," our latest video created to celebrate #fsf35: u.fsf.org/rewind

@n8 I think we get sorted in buckets somehow. 95% of the spam I get at my personal account is auf Deutsch.
