Please media people, start your own Fediverse servers! This is your chance to be in control of what you publish!
By remaining on Twitter you are helping Musk control you and your readers. You used to be in control before Twitter. The Fediverse is your chance to get back that control before it is too late.
It is really cheap and easy, even non-technical people can do it, it starts from about $8 a month:

The @TexasObserver has just started its own server, for example.
It's not yet widely acknowledged and realized that Elon Musk has jettisoned the principle of rule of law, which we still assume in our day-to-day.
Twitter still has official policies and rules, but they are not evenly enforced. That is a feature, not a bug. The PRC constitution protects freedom of speech and religion but this is not enforced; its laws criminalize corruption and Xi Jinping has cracked down on it, but he will never punish the corrupt among his friends and family. Like a Peruvian dictator once said, "For my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law."
It's more resemblant of the kings and emperors of yesteryear than modern society. Courtiers vied for positions such as the "Groom of the Stool", which assisted the king in using the bathroom, because access and trust were paramount to power.
But unlike then, premodern concepts of law are no longer the norm, and there are no feudal laws tying peasants to the land. That may spell the end for Elon's Twitter.
Como mudar de instância
(E um grande obrigada à @d3 por ter criado a Ciberlândia)

The reason Mastodon and the Fediverse is spread out on so many servers is it protects it from being taken over by anyone. Not even the richest can buy this place.
Centralised services like Twitter are incredibly easy to buy out. If you move from Twitter to another centralised service, sooner or later that will get bought out too.
The point of the Fediverse is to break this buyout cycle, to let people be permanently in control of their accounts. More info here:
Ontem vi umas pessoas cegas na rua.. Dei por mim a descrever-lhes as cores do meu cão.. Como se estivesse a descrever uma imagem aqui no #mastodon obrigado software por modificares código fonte biológico do meu ser.
Some people "Things can't go viral on #mastodon
#JohnMastodon: "Hold my beer."
A rare photo of #JohnMastodon, late 1960s, being caught by his wife, #JoanMastodon, sending indiscreet messages to a female user. That was the moment when he decided to add the direct messages feature to the code.
On this invisibilised and therefore rare photo, #JoanMastodon and #ClaudetteMastodon (respectively the wife and daughter of #JohnMastodon, too frequently erased from the History of the federated network!) are seen hard-wiring some toots to some hashtags, in an early prototype of instance. @PublicChaffinch "tonight, one of you will betray me with crossposts"
Version 2 of the UI!
Note that if you choose not to fill out one of the sections, it will not appear, so you can have as little or as much on the GUI as you want. All entries are strings, so you can customize it to your liking.
Same goes for the contacts, you can add as many as you want!
Now I have a Oneplus6 phone, should be easier to fix issues:

Lot of fixes in Lollypop coming soon.
Since #phosh made lockscreen widgets a plugin, I actually found it is prettty easy to make one yourself! I have been playing around with one that displays emergency info and emergency contacts.
Is there anything obvious I am missing from it? I got these from Android. Note that a user can add/remove/edit Emergency Contacts as they wish. (My hope is to merge this back into Phosh proper).
