#AgeVerification is a hot topic right now. Societies around the world are asking for it because of real harms to children. Shady companies use it as a way to gather more data. Some are rallying against it to distract from their exploitation of vulnerable people.
I does not have to be that way. We can have real age verification without sacrificing #privacy. For example, #Phreeli uses #ZeroKnowledge payment verification. This same technique can be used for age verification https://www.phreeli.com/blog/DoubleBlindArmadillo

Just like GNU Taler is not a cash replacement, but a credit card replacement, Phreeli could be an eSIM replacement or something, but not anonymity replacement.
@guardianproject I would love to see some age verification technique that did not allow tracking. Alas, even where that is the law and what has been attempted, immediately the tracking companies have found ways to correlate the data and figure out who is what age and track ALL of their online activity. I like the concept, but I have negative faith in the technology. Yeah, not just lack of faith, but active distrust. It's a field that I've worked in and I know too much.
@guardianproject
There is absolutely no need to praise age verification, or to suggest implementations that allegedly "preserve #privacy".
In plain words: we won't be able to create any account anymore, without presenting an ID that can be tracked back to us, under the guise of "law enforcement".
It is sobering that you are falling for this.
