to me, it seems like it would have been news that Google stopped 30 million #ads for "misinformation" in 2023 but zero in 2024 blog.zgp.org/google-ads-shitsh (I guess misinformation has friends in high places now, and there was enough other Google news last week)

Solid furios 13.0.9 upgrade!
1. with pipewire decoder and other gnome/ gtk camera apps can now connect to built in flx1 camera and it works (still have to toggle camera on/off once prior to use at times so not fully debugged and switching back camera 1/2 and back not wired up correctly)
2. with phosh 0.46 and other updates feels like it runs more stable and polished when switching apps and its nice to have the lock screen wallpaper
3. android apps seem to scale more consistently

Reposting this video here from community member Hrdl.

This video demos the improved display controller driver which means goodbye artifacting and welcome to automatic redrawing on a per pixel basis. As seen in the video, the display runs at a higher (and stable) 84Hz refresh rate than the stock 80Hz thanks to some tuning.

Google is so sneaky. This prompt inside Gmail gives you three options. The two most visible options (number 1 is 'Try it now' and number 2 is 'Continue') basically mean 'Enable Gemini AI to write emails.' The third option cancels it which is hidden well. Google, you could do better than this. This is a perfect example of a dark pattern. For those who want AI to write basic emails can enable it but there is not need to do this kind of "shady" stuff.

Here @jorge nails the disconnection between traditional Linux desktop distros aimed toward sysadmin (like me), versus what non-sysadmin actually want.

"Many of the things that user run into is that they are using a Linux distro based on this old model of mangling individual packages. And as users have told us, and as we know, remember, it's not like we are interrupting a hockey stick growth party around here for the Linux desktop. Users do not want this."

I've seen things you wouldn't believe. Entanglements off the shoulder of Orion. I saw Qbits glitter in the dark at the quantum gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to —STOP GENERATING

Trailer for the Murderbot TV show is out and it looks… better than I was afraid of but judgement is still out.

From the like 4 whole seconds of it I can already tell I want more of their take on Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon tho lol

While instituting the largest tariff increase in modern history, Trump claimed that the income tax was passed for “reasons unknown to mankind” and caused the Great Depression.
