An abolitionist designed the statue. A group of abolitionists paid for the statue. There's a plaque at the feet telling everyone what it's for. They named it the Statue of Liberty. It's arguably the largest anti-racism monument in the US, and the most recognizable anti-racism monument in the world...

Except people don't even know it's an anti-racism monument. They think it celebrates the huge influx of white immigrants from Europe that came to the US.

This isn't a cost of living crisis. This is an excess profit crisis.

Our climate, energy and economic crisis is caused by the extreme greed of the richest 1%.

It's 2023, and I am honestly perplexed that sending custom request headers is still a pain-in-the-ass with some frameworks.

Custom request headers were supported by ** in 2005.

(walks away grumbling to self about javascript frameworks stuck on an innovation threadmill, reinventing , , and component frameworks over, and over, and over, and over again)

Privileged white guy who runs toot.community publicly declares “outrage culture is slowly taking over my Mastodon timeline… outrage about protests, police, climate, big tech… I don’t care.”

I call him out.

Other privileged white folks: “But did you hug him first? Discuss it over tea?”

Another black man was just ruthlessly murdered by police in the US. Climate change is an existential threat. Big Tech is destroying democracy.

But you’re upset I didn’t coddle your fellow white guy?

Fuck you.

“Lately, it’s more than just a little hard
Cause I’m caught underwater, breathing
Breathing is hard
Have I gone too far?
It’s all I know
More than just a little hard
Caught in the undertow, reaching
It’s pulling me down
Have I gone too far?
Can you reach me?
I’ve gone too far“

Second set of battery rooms are now hydrogen filled and connected to the first set. Here is the thermal overlay: 24 batteries, under 30C.

Here is the gas overlay for the battery boxes. The top room is filled with Hydrogen, and already in-use. The room below is being vacuumed out. When the second room is all vacuum, the pump will be disabled, the insulated tiles between the two rooms will replaced with airflow tiles, and the hydrogen will fill both rooms.

The wheezeworts were planted using Pips. Which is why I'm vacuuming out rooms, instead of digging out vacuumed rooms from the start.

c335 This play-through, I started out with the Super Sustainable achievement in mind. I've since surpassed the achievement, but continuing with the sustainable constraints (no polluting power). This screenshot shows my current solar power array, and initial battery boxes.

While other big tech CEOs are cutting head count, Tim Cook is cutting his pay.

No crocodile tears about “taking full responsibility” either.

"This needs saying: If you’re actively discouraging your devs from #TDD and Pair programing, you’ve got NO BUSINESS calling yourself “#Agile”" (Michael Ibarra - twitter.com/bm2yogi/status/593)

i was laid-off twice early in my career in very large reorgs / cost-cutting.

the thing that wld have been helpful for me to hear then was 'this is not abt you. you were a number on someone's spreadsheet. they wanted that number to go down by 1000 or 2000 or 10,000'.

so, to anyone who needs to hear that today:

it's not abt you. you did nothing wrong.

Because it’s never a matter of IF there’s a bad apple in the group - there’s ALWAYS a bad apple in the group - when you’re a community leader, it’s a matter of: what are you doing to amplify or quiet that bad apple? How do you take away their power to ruin it for everybody? It may not be possible in a stadium, but it’s sure as shit possible online.

Please don’t confuse what is legal with what is right. There is some overlap, of course, but not as much as one might think. Laws are generally written by the rich and powerful to protect their interests, often at the expense of the poor and weak. Many atrocities are lawful, and many acts of mercy are unlawful. I say this as an attorney.

TL;DR: there's a reason we're investing in web components, and it isn't about theoretical purity, it's about delivering great experiences at scale.
