Does anyone have experience of going to any of the following?

Waldorf school
Steiner school
Democratic school

If so I'd love to hear your experiences, positive or negative!

Thank you and reboosts much appreciated โ˜บ๏ธ

@KatyElphinstone
I find the Waldorf/Steiner model to be cult-like. YMMV. I'm not familiar with Democratic School, but I am a fan of child led education models. Just not Steiner's.

@edyother @Liveotherwise @newtsoda "Overly cultivated concept of compassion."

"Pathological tendency to philosophize."

@Liveotherwise @newtsoda Before my #autism assessment I had been tested for personality disorders and I remember one of the results in the report was that I "may be too concerned with morality".

@drwho
"Rigid sense of right and wrong."

"Too much black & white thinking."

Sigh. The latter is pathologized in CBT, which is why I sometimes refer to CBT as "ABA for adults."

@edyother @Liveotherwise @newtsoda

There has been a lot of research about autistics over the years, but this one really took the cake! ๐Ÿฐ

Find out what happened when researchers attempted to compare the moral compass of autistic and non-autistic people... (1/2)

His bluff got called. I don't think "leveraged" is accurate. And he's been making it up as he goes along, since before PayPal.

He doesn't need defenders. He needs a hot dose of humility. Maybe fucking up birdsite will deliver that. I ain't holding my breath.

It's perfectly reasonable and possible for *both* of these statements to be true:

* it is better here than on Twitter
* this better *isn't good enough*

Federation and decentralization *as currently and inconsistently and idiosyncratically practiced* while better, are not good enough.

Digging in and saying that decentralization and federation *is* good enough is really, really unhelpful.

Also, the potential for better does not mean the practical experience is better.

"Systems people rarely blame people for things. They blame systems. The fact that people act in certain perverse ways that produce results that no one wants is not usually (there are exceptions) the fault of the people. They're the rational behave behavior of people in the
system and the question is what's wrong with the system? not what's wrong with the people in it?" (#DonellaMeadows)

A good reminder to focus on learning more about the systems when studying incidents #LFI

USpol, The New Right

I'm going to say this again - my white friends who aren't racists do not mind me talking about racism. If you find yourself disturbed by or uncomfortable with topics on racism, you may want to tell yourself some hard truths. And then, work on your findings. You may be racist.

@SteveBellovin
I was there, working on VA.gov, until early last year. Mike Chelen (@mchelen@twitter.com) is probably your best bet for an interested party at USDS.
