3 years ago I volunteered to create a new edition of Ethan Winer’s 1990s BASIC programming book using LibreOffice (@libreoffice). Over the span of a year, with Ethan’s editorial input, I rebuilt the book layout from TXT sources in , and recreated all diagrams from scratch using , and . It turned out great!

Dev1: so our zombs will find the shortest path possible or the weakest with some randomness
Dev2: what if a person can't be reached?
Dev1: Eh?
Dev2: I mean climb a mountain or dig a super deep hole, or dig a super deep hole at the top of a mountain.
Dev1: Nobody would...what?🧵

This is my favourite ice cream. I like it because it has these little chunks of chocolate in it.

Sorry, I mean full-diameter SHARDS OF SUCCULENCE! XD

I bought the new remasters of GnR Illusions since I enjoyed the originals so much in the 1990s but had lost those copies over the decades.

And they sound terrible lol. Modern loudness compressed, mid range is boosted so high my teeth hurt, and November Rain got wrecked:

Piano is quieter, strings are louder, the thunder clap is muted to almost background atmosphere, the last bass drum kick on the signature drum roll is muted. It has no cinematic narrative punch anymore.

The Case Against by Hoffman is a wonderful read. If you’d like to learn more about biological consciousness, models of adaptation, and challenge all your preconceived notions about the of the “visible” universe as a consciousness emerged from evolution, this is a thrill ride!

Currently in a section about how our brain compresses information for adapted responses.

I mean, you can't rely on streaming anyway. Licenses come and go and I have mixtapes that aren't even a year old that feature tracks that already have expired licenses on streaming platforms.

Thank god I bought everything for offline playback at the time!

Trying to buy and own music in 2022 (for mixtapes) is a pain in the ass anymore. Curse you streaming!

I lamented the effort required to a friend tonight...

"I'm moving the payload!", shouted Mercy as she helped me organize my home for a LAN gaming day. <3

I invited a friend and his kid over to play Destiny together on all our computers.

This is the game that was the most interesting to the kid.

(As it should be!)

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez reconnected with childhood teacher on Twitter, who is still cheering her on. It’s wonderful. ❤️ matter.

Learned how to install today. Huzzah! I added some nice icing after like a desktop environment (gnome), disabled root login, added sudo and edited sudoers, tweaked user groups, common GUI desktop apps etc.

It was in a virtual machine, so I'm considering this an "easy mode" success, but I think I'm comfortable enough to try it on hardware next time. I have a wifi USB device I could try to work with instead of ethernet too.

I’ve adopted a new family of goodness in my collection: .

I missed the cartridge gaming of mid 1980s through 1990s, and after a lot of game tryouts in emulation, I kept coming back to Genesis titles as favourites. 🥰

So I decided that this would be the original console and games to collect from that period. I don’t plan on having a lot of games, just enough to cover some genres and play my favourites.
