Sweden has its own back door proposal in addition to EU’s Chat Control 2.0 and Going Dark. Signal’s president @Mer__edith is clear as always: if you mandate back doors (i.e., vulnerabilities): no more Signal for you. https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/signal-lamnar-sverige-om-regeringens-forslag-pa-datalagring-klubbas
Denna fråga svarade V, C, MP och SD ja på i somras.
Står de alla fast vi det här nu appropå regeringens lagförslag om bakdörrar i totalsträckskrypterade appar som Signal?

Many people just learned about Sverige’s chat backdoor proposal from an interview with Signal CEO @Mer__edith with SVT Nyheter. It is similar to the EU’s and UK’s recent chat control proposal.
@dfri fights for digital privacy rights in Sverige and responded to the government’s request for comment in January.
DFRI needs more Svenskar to join as members and donate to its work. It’s 151,50 kr well spent.
@djuparotter hej hej! @emilnilsson

@maxd aha, thanks
@MAKS23 it says "SVO results", what does "SVO" mean here?
@osiris thanks!
@osiris do you know what the timeline is for this? I mean, when is parliament going to vote to pass such a bill?
"The United Nations general assembly has backed a resolution drafted by Ukraine and the European Union condemning Russia on the third anniversary of its full-scale invasion, spurning a rival US resolution reflecting Donald Trump’s split with Europe and growing union with Vladimir Putin."
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/feb/24/un-general-assembly-russia-ukraine-war
Hm, about that, Donald Trump’s growing union with Vladimir Putin. US citizens, are you fine with this happening in your name? Is this what the USA will be now, a helper state for Putin?
@km ojoj 😕
@jmaris I wonder, is there anyone in the US who is not ashamed of this?
I don't see how any US citizen could find this acceptable. Even the more extreme "MAGA" folks, I have a hard time seeing that they would think "yeah, let's team up with Russia!"
Please help me understand this.
"US joins Russia to vote against UN resolution condemning Russia’s war against Ukraine"
https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/24/politics/us-joins-russia-ukraine-un-vote/index.html
"The US had introduced a rival General Assembly resolution, which did not call Russia the aggressor or acknowledge Ukraine’s territorial integrity."
I thought that USA under Trump was supposed to be all about selfishness, but now it seems it's more about being a tool for Putin? Not "America first", but rather "Russia first"? Trump is Putin's puppet?
