@RenewedRebecca somehow I feel there's an opportunity for a joke here, something about [insert name of boring person] already having that ability
@xianc78 mhm okay thanks.
Maybe they realized that if ou block too much, your world becomes boring. And the things you block do not cease to exist, they will come back and hit you in the head later anyway, and you will not be ready for it because you stuuuuuuck your head in the sand.
> som innan 1980?
det här blev jag paff av, jag hade trott att sommartid-grejen hållit på i 100 år minst.
om det bara pågått sedan 1980 är det ju ett nytt påfund som känns lättare att avskaffa igen 😄
@xianc78 why would they block it?
@normalniklas tack
@normalniklas vilken är den senaste vändningen du tänker på?
@stoamandl @nextcloud @socallinuxexpo I think it is not ethical to use the word "intelligence" to describe LLMs.
@pelefant nix det var nog någon annan. Eller också har jag glömt det, inte omöjligt om det var länge sedan 🙃
@Tutanota best to stay away from all of the GAFAM companies: Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft. They are all dangerous due to their size and their monopoly positions in different areas. We really need to reduce their power in the world. The issue is much bigger than ads, it's about power and control. Those companies are a threat to any kind of free society.
@debacle @valhalla @debian I think it's almost always a good idea to define each acronym the first time it is used, in any kind of document.
In this case, https://bits.debian.org/2024/04/bits-from-the-dpl-april.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon is a fairly long text with "DPL" mentioned more than 20 times. Writing it out the first time would not take much space, and would help make the text a little bit more welcoming to newcomers.
@debian what does "DPL" mean?
@Mer__edith sounds super interesting! It would be great if the video could be made available somewhere other than youtube.
Any experienced C developers among my followers? #BoostsWelcome.
Expat, arguably the world's most popular #XML parser, is understaffed and without funding. As #xz has shown, situations like this are dangerous.
Last month, maintainer Sebastian Pipping put up a plea for help at https://github.com/libexpat/libexpat/blob/R_2_6_2/expat/Changes
(I would help myself, but my C skills barely surpass "Hello, World".)

@erincandescent noooooooooooo! the infamous "Threads" thing finally made it into my feed. I guess it was only a matter of time.
If you talk to folks over there, tell them to leave facebook's crap behind and get on a decent (as in non-facebook) instance instead 😄
