#WritersCoffeeClub 22/5: How do you make a location youβve never visited feel βrealβ for the reader?
I've never been to any of the places I write about, they don't exist, but I've been to other towns, plains, and caves. I haven't been to the royal castle in Curandon, but I've been to other castles. I've never been to the Umathari desert, but that didn't stop me from describing it so that my beta readers thought it was a real place. But how did I do it? I've never been to a desert. I don't know.
@nemorosa maybe you had a dream about it, then you could describe the dream? π
@eliasr I rarely dream in a way that I can control, I wish I could, though! It would be spectacular!
