@eff @cmcsherr @arstechnica The purpose of a logo is to let customers distinguish brands and products. This parody site does not mislead customers, so there's nothing wrong with it. Fortunately the law seems to agree.

@hannahshouse2 @louisrcouture @eff Firefox enables Total Cookie Protection by default. It isolates cookies between sites, which is the superior approach; it's used by Tor Browser for example.

You don't need that many privacy extensions overall. Some of them might be redundant. Personally, I just use uBlock Origin when it comes to privacy extensions. When you want the most online privacy a regular person can get right now, use Tor Browser. Avoid changing settings and installing extensions in it.

@aral @thejuicemedia It starts with the usual bullshit, and only transitioned to reality when I was reaching for the close button. The introduction should be made shorter to avoid discouraging people from watching the factual part.

@Paul_stilgar @noelreports Usually multirotor FPVs fly up to 20 km. Maybe larger drones gave the smaller one a lift and provided signal repeating?

@sarcastictoast @itsfoss The truth is that most people don't even know what Windows or an operating system is. They just use whatever is preinstalled.

Mac users typically are more educated on the subject. They have to be, because of macOS' incompatibility with Windows.

@icd Po naszemu to chyba "ciasteczka stron trzecich"? 🤔

@lns @eff @davidgreene @nbcnews AFAIK fake news are also protected as free speech in US.

I agree that actual parody shouldn't cross into disinformation; that's when it stops being a parody. And I believe actual parody should be protected also by private companies like some social media.

If you're an EU citizen and you hate DRM and planned obsolescence, here's an easy petition for you to sign:

stopkillinggames.com/eci

TL;DR: If online-only DRM servers shut down, publishers would be required to keep your game working regardless.

Only targets video games because that is where this practice is by far the most prevalent today, but it would set a precedent that we might soon need for things like phones, cars, and all the other things that are increasingly getting CPUs shoved inside them.

1 year to reach 1 million signatures.

@sos @q3k @siguza The annex provides some clarification. It's still somewhat vague, but EU petitions usually are. Even if the petition provided details, EU commission/parliament/council wouldn't have to adhere to those details during their lawmaking processes.

But yes, I hope the organizers or some NGOs will be included in the process and will explain the petition's goal to EU officials.

@noelreports So Orban has finally achieved world peace? Great!

@GreenFire They aren't the wonder weapon people think them to be, but they will still be immediately useful for air defence. They will be used deep in Ukraine, far away from frontlines, to shoot down Russian missiles and drones.

@qkslvrwolf @noelreports Sweden promised two Saab 340B AEW-300 airborne early warning and control aircraft.

@noelreports Anyone can contribute towards trucks (for example through Lift99's NAFO campaigns) or drones (for example through Wild Hornets). They really do help a lot. If you want to donate specifically toward saving lives, Lift99 has campaigns for medical evacuation trucks and Wild Hornets make a type of drone that is specifically designed to destroy Russian fixed wing drones (Shaheds, Orlans, etc.).

@fosstastic I definitely agree that it should have been opt-in. I just think it's much less harmful than people make it out to be.

@fosstastic I think the goal was to prove that attribution is possible without tracking, because advertisers keep telling politicians and courts that it's not.
