@sima I also realised the slightly bigger problem that copying the page would lead to write consolidation problems.
Assuming we have some fine grain control, couldn't we invalidate the cash lines remotely? Assuming hardware support.
@sima @Nulhomme @gfxstrand @Sobex assuming we can update the page tables atomicaly. Copying the pages should have no impact on a read only thread, at the cost of copying at most 8k assuming small pages. I don't know how we would deal with writers, other then let the last writer win and ignore all writers in progress.
@halva yeah just eat them raw, like civilised people.
@sima @Nulhomme @gfxstrand @Sobex are we talking copying the memory pages, holding the folio lock while we update the page tables. Or holding the locks while doing the writes? Honestly hard for me to tell what would be cheaper, probably would have to test both.
@sima the people most insisting they are above politics is my experience the ones that demands the most political considerations.
I have started to take the claim that it's a deliberate tactic more serious as a result of that experience.
@sima for some dum reason people like to pretend like they are better then politics.
@inthehands Cars are commodities, their value is primarily a function of their expected utility. New cars are a bit different, as well as luxury/collectable cars.
Tesla cars value is unlikely to fluctuate greatly, because they're already priced according to their value as transportation.
This is a great opportunity for other car companies to expend their market, until the new owners of Tesla relies that they don't have to put a badge on the cars.
@taatm the US has won every war they deployed donkeys*
*sources? Fuck do I know, I just vaguely remember someone saying that.
@Lana no purer victory, at least until Trump takes on the EU...
@2d I have some interesting news, it is already Linux. It's a bit annoying to break out of the sandbox, but more than doable.
@ZeldaTheBunny the same way you tie shoe laces?
@MisuseCase yeah, uber was moonlighting as an leasing company for awhile. I believed it was called uber black/x, the idea was that drivers would leas luxury cars from uber. To provide a more "premium"-experience to riders.
I can't imagine that ending well for anyone.
@MisuseCase many are car poor, meaning they bought more car then they can afford. These same people are often upside down on their car, they owe more then the car is worth.
@shoq Elon Musk is the sum total of the federal government.
@crmsnbleyd I have enough charisma and status that I'm not that worried.
@inthehands I wanna repeat my offer, I can accept one (1) tesla as a gift. Giver is responsible for all fees and legal arrangements.
@w7voa so, dusting of the Obama deal?
