@divested have we already talked about f-droid privileged extension in #DivestOS 20 ? Shouldn't updates auto-install with session installer?

@Kurt PrivExt won't be included and isn't compatible.

F-Droid has support for 1-tap updates for compatible apps.

F-Droid Basic can do 1-tap updates for all compatible apps.

@divested @Kurt I cannot think how PrivilegedExtension could be incompatible with an ROM. Could you expand on that?

Privileged Extension provides a much better user experience than the official Android "Unknown Sources" update mechanism because it uses the same mechanism as Google Play. Google does not use the automatic updates API that Android provides, and it is buggy and not so well supported.

I would be happy to work with you to get FDroid PrivilegedExtension included

@eighthave @divested currently i have a #DivestOS with locked bootloader. So system modifications are a no-go. I really hoped for android 13 session installer.

@Kurt @divested F-Droid supports the session installer already in the 1.19.0 alphas.

@eighthave @divested ok. Updated. Is there a user facing toggle for session installer?

@eighthave
The added permissions cause the privext to fail a manifest check when comparing what is declared vs what the system package installer says it requests.
