@glynmoody I agree that copyright is a monopoly that is hugely overused and abused but I think it is also a useful tool to slow down and restrict #AI #LLM development. I don't think creators are going to really win much either way with this particular copyright battle, but it is pretty clear that the current AI methods will be hindered, and they are another iteration of tech like cryptocurrencies, where the vast majority of the users are harmful, but the tiny useful features are heavily promoted
@olm_e I agree, protecting your reputation is more important than earning 0.000046 cents... @eighthave
@eighthave in some ways, generative AI is getting worse - more repetitive, more boring - so I think ultimately it will be good for original artists. people will value true creativity. and certainly there is going to be a lot of scam-like junk floating around.
@glynmoody I've had that thought also, maybe this current crop of AI will make social media so bad that people will go back to meeting up and talking to each other 😃
@eighthave yes, quite possible
@eighthave @glynmoody maybe a better approach could be with the "moral right" (droit moral" of the "droit d'autheur" ) which is inalienable and based on ethical ground not economics ? (ie you can forbid the use of art you made based on justified moral dispute on usage of the work in inappropriate context)
