From the recent #Librem5 review at newlintech.com/librem-5-smartp I can definitely agree that @purism should primarily focus on improving battery life, because it definitely ‘loses juice at a rate that is nearly impressive. The charge lasts three to five hours with the current configuration.’ Although the still experimental deep sleep OS build has improved the situation to at least an eight hour standby time for me, which is much more doable in practice as a daily driver #phone.

@halcek @purism Despite of the posting date, that review looks really old. It lists outdated specs; charging issues with non-PD sources are long gone, and convergence and cameras work out of box for years now. Idle time without suspend is at around 8-10 hours these days, and with suspend it gets to 20 hours.

@dos @purism From my own testing of the Evergreen batch, I can only confirm that with the experimental hybernation I was able to get to about 8 hours of standby on battery power, 9 maybe, but not much more. I will of course continue further testing to see how the situation improves over time.

But yes, good point about the cameras working fine now.

@halcek @purism That's yesterday's battery usage graph on my phone - I used it for a bit a few times and kept suspended otherwise. The battery is pretty old at this point, but still had 25% left after 10 hours of light usage.

Which WiFi card do you have? Could you try with WiFi switch set to off?

@halcek @purism And this is my trip to the other side of the city to a concert today. I used the phone quite a lot - to check public transit, maps with GPS, XMPP chatting, some web browsing, taking plenty of photos and recording some videos... managed to get back home and plug it in with battery at 4% :)

@dos @purism Recently I managed to get 13 hours mostly on standby, but with some calls. This is pretty impressive progress in my view and all the power to you to keep making it even more so.
